I expect to see some shakeup on the OL. Maybe Richardson, Posey, Crowder, or someone I'm forgetting (or even a precocious frosh) asserts himself and earns a role. Intense competition for OL positions can only help. Our inadequacy in those trenches - be it the result of youth, inexperience, lack of competitive spirit, or bad coaching - more than any other factor explains this debacle of a season.
Interestingly, as many posters here and elsewhere noted with alarm in September, these shortcomings were painfully on display in the Montana game. Frankly, Derek Dooley's future depends on massive improvement next season in our run blocking. It's pretty much that simple. With a mediocre run game, we would have been 7-5 this season. Next year a mediocre run game should get us to 8-4, but awful to the point of embarrassing and disgusting to watch is a long way from mediocre. In other words, we have a long way to go and about 9 months to get there.
I would add that a punter who can consistently kick the ball more than 40 yards and occasionally exceed 50 would also help enormously. Repeated threes-and-out, thanks to our abysmal run game, followed by 35 yard punts (if we were luckly) is just a formula for getting routed by decent teams.
