2012 NBA Predictions

I stopped reading when you said Green isn't very good.

Tell me what he does well, then get back to me.

He's an average NBA player whose best numbers came on horrible, horrible teams.

Yeah I was just curious. I guess I just disagree that Lee, Terry, and Barbosa will improve the team at all. Lee sucks, and the other 2 aren't very productive anymore.

I don't like Green either. He can't rebound to save his life. Last year was the first season where he ever scored efficiently, but he only played 26 games. He's a good ball handler, but he doesn't do anything else well.

Tell me what he does well, then get back to me.

I'll leave it at this, we can revist these post in May-June.

Why are people high on the Nuggets? Just curious and I'm sure you guys have discussed it but looking at their roster I'm not seeing it.

They gave the Lakers all they wanted in the playoffs last year. Their core was young. McGee, Lawson, and Manimal will be better this year, IMO, and then they replaced a decent player (Afflalo) with an elite player (AI). They didn't lose any productive players other than Afflalo.

So instead of actually having a discussion with us about it, you are just going into homer mode and ignoring us?

Got it.

Gotcha, I figured that playoff series may have had something to do with it. I do like Lawson a lot, not sure if I trust JaVale. The Iguodala pickup is a good one for defense which is something I think they lacked last season.

They are the deepest team in the East.

We're not title contenders? We took the Miami Heat to 7 games in the ECF w/out Jeff Green, Chris Wilcox, Avery Bradley, a hobbled Pierce & Allen. Now Green, Wilcox, & Bradley are healthy & back, Pierces knee is healthy & he is good to go. We added Lee, Terry, & Barbosa. How is that not improving? & the East is not weaker, it may be better than it has been the past couple of seasons. The Sixers, Pacers, Nets, Knicks are no pushovers anymore.

I'm not saying the Celtics will win the title, but I won't be surprised at all if they are right back in the ECFs again & take the Heat to 7 games once again.

They are a year older. The Celtics are going to rely heavily on two guys on the back end of their careers. The Nets are still a pushover as are the Knicks.

They have everything except a back to the basket scorer in the post. They are arguably the most athletic team in the NBA, and they get Wilson Chandler back too.

Chandler hasn't performed all that well for the Nuggets, but maybe that's because of nagging injuries.

I just love their rotation. So many options:

PG- Lawson/Miller
SG- Igoudala/Brewer/Hamilton
SF- Gallinari/Chandler/Miller
PF- Faried/Randolph
C- McGee/Mozgov

They can go big. They can go small. Fast break team, ultra D team. Incredibly athletic. I kind of wish they signed Elton Brand, just to have a guy that can score in the post instead of going with Anthony Randolph.

But this team insanely athletic.

Imagine this defensive lineup: Miller/Chandler/Igoudala/Gallinari (underrated defender)/McGee.

See I do like their athleticism, I just feel like they could have that Pacers feel of a good team without that needed piece to get over the hump. I hate to subscribe to the narrative of "you need a superstar to win" but at the same time I can't see that roster getting by LA or OKC in the playoffs.

AI is a superstar, IMO. He's not gonna give you 25 ppg, but he does everything on the floor at a high level. Pistons didn't have a superstar.

Agree 100% on the Pistons, just not sure this Nuggets team has got that kind of makeup. At least not at this point. I'd love to be wrong, they're a team that will be fun to watch and even more fun to watch succeed.

Yeah, definitely not saying they are the Pistons, I'm just saying you don't necessarily have to have a top scorer.

Also, I think AI has the highest "clutch" shooting % in the NBA. He's like 6/11 on game-winning shots, or something.

That's because we got Moose and Bull now!

There are a handful if "superstars" in the NBA, he isn't one of them. He's a really good player.

I guess it depends on how you define superstar. For the purposes of my viewpoint, advanced stats show AI as the 5th most productive player in 2012. AI is one of the league's best defenders, rebounders, and ballhandlers at his position.

We'll just wait and see. I predict that about January we'll be hearing from all the talking heads their explanations as to why Denver is doing so well. Their predictable responses will include "chemistry", "desire", "momentum", and "coaching", when the truth of the matter is they just have really good players.

Am I missing something with Denver? Why are they supposed to be so good this season? I'll admit, I've only kept up with Memphis this offseason.

They've got a good roster and a good coach. Lawson /AI/Miller in the back and Faried/Dino/McGee in the front.

I'm not sold on them being that good. Something like. 4 or 5 seed.
