2012 LB Nick Dawson

If Clemson really did something to make him mad, I feel really good about our chances.

+1...definitely looked like the team to beat based on previous comments from Dawson...if they have pissed him off it definitely bodes well for us

USC and another LB with the last name Dawson still gets me fired up...lets hope this one goes a different way.

Orgeron won't be around too long if he keeps drinking the Red Bulls and Eating the way he does.

#14 ILB on ESPN:

Dawson shows good strength along with the ability to play tough against the inside run. Has the size and athleticism for the inside linebacker position at the major level of competition; is a solid wrap tackler capable of good production as a special team's coverage player. We see very good production as a running back; lacks a burst but is a strong inside runner; runs over his pads demonstrating the strength to overpower defenders at the second level. We see good ball catching skills along with run after catch toughness. This prospect appears to have good flexibility, balance and agility but lacks explosive change of direction ability; flashes good key and diagnosis skills playing the run and pass. Works to play downhill demonstrating inside run stacking toughness; can take on and defeat blockers at the point of attack. Displays the lateral movement to make plays off the edge and to the sideline however we see the need to improve his playing speed and long pursuit ability. There is potential as a zone coverage defender; flashes crossover ability with eyes on the quarterback; recognizes short/ medium routes with good plant and break on balls thrown underneath; has good ball skills which appear to be a carry over from offense. Locking up in man situations could test his ability to run with quick receivers in space; will need to be carefully game planned. His size and playing strength should be positives as a pass rusher. Dawson has the size and intensity to be productive at the BCS level of play.

"I like Clemson a lot, it's a great place. I probably know more about them than other schools right now," he observed. "I haven't seen Tennessee as much, but I'm going to get back up there for camp this month and then maybe again in the fall. They're definitely one of top-five schools."

Somebody needs to get there paint cans ready!!!

One of the more physically imposing defenders on the field was 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker Nick Dawson. Flying across the country from Charlotte (N.C.) to the Nike campus was no problem for the talented athlete as he's having a blast so far at The Opening.

"Everything's great," Dawson said. "It's so unique it doesn't make sense. And every day it gets better and better. I'm just out here to compete with the top 150 and I'm doing going good."

Bryan Fischer

Said Louisville and Clemson are recruiting him the hardest.

Clemson can't buy them all

Clemson and Auburn also have headhunters as recruiters on their staffs. All this cheating talk is getting old. They both are evaluating talent well and recruiting like crazy. Lance Thompson was supposed to be the headhunter for us but I have yet to see it. He's bringing in solid prospects but he's got to start bringing it in the recruiting game.
