2011 Schedule

Laugh if you want but I wouldn't necessarily pencil that Montana game in as a win. They are a very very good FCS school and are sniffing the FCS championship every year. The way we are looking, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an upset much like the way Appy State upset Michigan.

So...might as well start now...looking to next year, what do you guys think?

Montana
Cincinnati
@Florida
Buffalo
Georgia
LSU
@Alabama
South Carolina
Middle Tennessee
@Arkansas
Vanderbilt
@Kentucky

...I think at worst 7-5, at best 9-3.

Your worst is my best. I think we are probably 7-5 at best and could be as bad as 4-8. I don't think we'll be much better next year, but the schedule will be easier which should give us a better shot at a bowl.

My guess is wins over Montana, Buffalo and Vandy. Toss-ups with Cincinnati, Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. Losses to Florida, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, South Carolina and Arkansas.

... 3-9 is the worst, 6-6 is the best, 4-8 is the most likely.

I think Cincinnati will be a more definate win than Vandy, They are not the same program without Brian Kelly. They look to be headed back to where they were before Kelly arrived.

7-5. Wow, removing UNC from our OOC schedule makes it absolutely terrible. Cincinnati will probably be a .500 team and that's really our only tough opponent on that. They won't even be tough, either.

7-5 would look really good\
Looking at that schedule, I'd be pretty upset if we didn't win at least 7 games. I could tolerate 7, but I'd say Dooley should be on the hot seat going into 2012.

They will split with UGA and LSU imo, with an outside shot at beating S. Carolina. Arky should be fine, with Love as their biggest loss. Wilson should be as productive as Mallett and that game's on the road. The schedule is pretty favorable and all the games outside of UF and Bama are probably winnable depending on what all happens between now and next year.

What's wrong with that? We should beat Montana, Cincy, Buffalo, MTSU, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky next year. That's 6. How could anyone not be upset about losing all the remaining games. We get Georgia, South Carolina, and a Les Miles coached LSU team at home. Florida will still be more talented but something's wrong down there and they better figure it out. Alabama is the only game I'm very confident we'll lose. I don't think we'll have a great record, but taking this team and going 6-6 would be upsetting.

Our bye week before Georgia might help pull a W there. Assuming dates are accurate for penciled in schedule.

I'll go 7-5, though. Seems safe. Might be a good time to start donating to the Fund for some QQ season tickets.

Seven to 9 wins. Depth will still be an issue but the guys who are going to school this year as Freshmen will have a year of experience and a year of Wylie come August.

The DL will be better. LB should be OK. Secondary doesn't lose anyone.

OL, QB, and RB decidedly better with experience and development. TE and WR big question marks because of lost experience and depth.

I think Cincy will suck next year, and I'm not buying Montana pulling off that upset, I don't care how good they are.

We could be undefeated going into the UGA game depending on what type of team UF puts on the field, they've been iffy all year this year, and we'll see what kind of improvement they have. If we manage to pull off the UF win, that's huge for the rest of the year.

I honestly don't know how good UGA will be next year. I won't say I'm impressed with the QB play to the south this year, but it's not terrible. We've all seen what kind of impact AJ Green had on that team. If he goes pro, which I think he will, can they overcome it? We'll see. It's at home, so I'm talking UT, but I wouldn't be shocked either way.

LSU? I have no idea what happens with the Mad Hatter on the other sideline, and there's no way he's going to Colorado. Maybe Michigan, but I'm not sure RichRod is going to get fired.

Alabama at Alabama? I think TR is good enough to beat any team in the country by himself.

One thing about USCjr I noticed during the UT game is there offensive line is very senior laden. I have no idea what they have behind those guys, I'll admit, but it might be something to take note of. Also it's at home.

Also not buying the MTSU might upset us talk.

The Hogs? With Mallet? Yikes. Without Mallet? Not really worried about it, however ever since 98 they seem to play us rather close regardless.

Vandy and Kentucky will be business as usual I believe. I'm not going to put a win number on the 2011 team, but I think they're a Florida bowl team at worst.

Ok, I don't think he's on the hotseat with 7. 6....maybe, but not 7.

why would we schedule Montana... they are one of the best FCS teams over the last 10 years. I'd hate to start out the season with a loss to a FCS school. Can we say Michigan - App St. .. all over again

Mallett is DEFINITELY leaving for the pros...and that makes the Arkansas game eminently winnable. Our depth, especially on the DL, will be way better next year just because Walls and Martin are back.

I see 7-5 as a worst case scenario.

Wilson cannot be worse than Mallett in big games, and will probably put up the same type numbers against awful teams. As I said, Love is easily their biggest loss.

How can you possibly say that he "cannot be worse"? Of course he can. He won't be surrounded by more talent than Mallett is this year. He is NOT as talented as Mallett is. Childs should and probably will go pro. The top two TE's will be gone. Three starting OL's will be gone.

BTW, did you love Love when he was a 5.5 3* recruit whose best offer was Arkansas?

The whole team will remember the LSU game from this year. I'll give us a W there.
I'm not excited about having to watch that replay several times during the game though...

7-5 maybe 8-4

Man we will have a long off season to dwell on the whole situation. I think the schedule for next year looks a whole lot better than this years tough schedule did. Depending on how we finish out the season with Bray will tell a lot. I think UGA & LSU at home next year will be games we can win, and I think we have a good chance to be 8-4 or 7-5.

He's a much better fit for what Petrino likes to do than Mallett. He is much more able to get out of the pocket and make throws on the run. Childs is out for the year which will hurt his draft stock. There is nothing probable about him turning pro after the injury. Their running game will be even better next year as well, with K. Davis getting better and better. Their O Line is their biggest question mark next year. And no, I didn't follow Love's recruitment at all.
