LeBron = best player in the league
Dwight Howard = most valuable to his team
Derrick Rose = best PG in the league in a year or two
Chris Paul = best PG (when healthy) right now

Chris Paul is the best PG when unhealthy, too. This year, semi-healthy, he led the league in spg, 2nd in apg, 4.45:1 assist/turnover ratio (highest ever for someone averaging more than 8 apg, I think). Oh yeah, and 16 ppg shooting an impressive .578 TS%.

Boozer and Deng both scored 20 on a combined 30 shots. Rose scored 23 on 27 shots (and had 7 TO's). His teammates aren't the only ones making that offense ugly. Taj Gibson is playing extremely well offensively, but he's only taking 4.9 FGA per game. Go figure.

Gibson, Bogans, Deng, Brewer, and Korver are all out-shooting Rose in the playoffs and they've taken a combined 376 shots. Rose has taken 347 shots.

Rose is barely outshooting Boozer (by .006) and has committed twice as many turnovers. Funny that Booze is catching all the criticism. If the Bulls didn't have the best D in the league they wouldn't have got out of the first round. If they had an average D, they would have been lucky to win 50 games and Rose gets no MVP.

Can you actually play basketball, or do you stop at the stats geek silliness?

Agreed. Those stats are very misleading. Miami came into this series with a plan of building a wall around Rose and making everyone around him to shoot them out of it. The problem is Deng, Boozer, and Korver aren't good enough to do it. Chicago should've took advantage of Memphis being stupid at the trade deadline and trying to get rid of OJ Mayo. If OJ Mayo were the SG at Chicago, there would be a lot better spacing for Rose to do work. The spacing is terrible right now for Chicago's offense, and Rose is forcing the issue because he knows he has to. Boozer is catching a lot of grief because he is garbage defensively, and he doesn't pose a significant threat offensively to make Miami slack up defensively against Rose.

I can use stats like Bill Plaschke to say that the Thunder were 15-0 during the regular season when Westbrook outshot Durant. That is a very misleading stat. There is a reason Miami laughed at Boozer when he begged them to let him come to Miami.

What are you talking about? Deng and Korver are outshooting Rose. He's taking a ridiculous amount of shots, thus limiting their # of attempts.

Wow, Mayo? His TS% of .499 is pretty pathetic. As far as spreading the floor...Mayo made 1.4 3-pointers per game, and shot 36% from 3 (actually pretty decent). Bogans made 1.1 per game and shot 38%. Korver made 1.5 per game and shot 42%. They have guys to spread the floor. Rose doesn't get it to them. The Chicago Jazz (Korver, Boozer, and Brewer) had no trouble scoring when they had a pass-first guard setting them up*.

That would be a wonderful point if that stat had anything to do with the stats that I value.

*2008 = 43 ppg and TS% of .597
2009 = 39 ppg and TS% of .556
2010 = 36 ppg and TS% of .586

2011 = 32 ppg and TS% of .545
