2010 Recruiting Class

It's important to remember that this is our current true JR class. We still don't have a SR class this year, which cannot be discounted.

In reality this is how you build a roster. You need half to be solid and part of the others to help on ST and when called on in game situations. Once CDD gets 3 classes of proven guys in place the program should step up another level. Let's hope that this season starts the progression and that 2013 and 2014 complete it.

I have always believed DD or any coach needed 4 to 5 recruiting classes to get us back given the hole the program was in. Maybe that is why he has a 5 year contract.

So what percent of major contributors and/or minor contributors would mean a successful class? This class had around 40% major and around 60% combined contributors.

If you had 4 classes like his one, you would have 72 players contributing. That's pretty strong. That would leave 13 not doing anything and probably transferring to let us take more recruits.

I would assess it this way. 21 contributers, 5 reaches that didn't pan out, and 4 academic casualties (which we should rarely ever see in the future under CDD).

Major Contributors (14)
QB - Simms (Started 7-8 games and very nearly beat LSU, to me thats a major contribution whether he was good or not)
QB - Bray
RB - Neal
WR - Rogers
WR - Hunter
TE - Rivera (JUCO)
OL - James
OL - Stone
OL - Fulton
DT - Jackson (transferred from USC - drafted)
DE - Smith
DE - Miller
S - Brewer (joined team from professional baseball)
K - Palardy (Hasn't lived up to hype but he's contributed for sure - still has time)

Minor Contributors (7
OL - Pair (really too early to tell because he redshirted but he's in the 2-deep)
DT - Clark
LB - Propst
LB - Fugate
LB - Sapp
LB - Crump
P - Darr (Has played but has a ways to go)

Reaches (5)
QB - Nance (We got what we needed here)
WR - Milton (transferred) (Poor evaluation from Kiffin and CDD had to roll with it given the circumstances)
DB - Meline (Not sure what Kiffin saw but he was never going to play here - left after position change)
DE - Jackson (transferred)(CDD took a chance to fill out the roster- same could be said of Clark, Probst, Sapp and Crump but they've contributed at varying levels)

Academic Casualties (4)
Probably none of these would have been takes had CDD had time to evaluate properly
DB - Clark (JUCO)
DT - Brown (JUCO)
DB - Loften
DB - Dixon[/QUOTE]
