How many recruits can we sign? Is it best to over recruit and then tell, scare some of the weaker signees that we no longer need their services, they are best suited elsewhere, etc. How many of these recruits have grade issues? I know this has been covered but with so many interested and so many recently signed-I just wanted a fresh opinion and yes I do still realize that they have a year of high school left to finish.

1) 28 is the new rule. you can only take 25 in a single class, though, so 3 will need to be back counted to 2009 (December graduates that enroll over Christmas break). that is the simplest answer I can give you.

2) we aren't going to publicly take commits from lesser players until the staff gives up on its higher targets.
taking pledges from those players clogs up the board and it hurts your chances with signing the players you favor.

3) Broussard from Louisiana may have qualifying issues, but Orgeron has likely talked to his coaches or a counselor at his high school about getting him tutoring in order to bring his grades up. there's always 1-2 people with unexpected issues to show later in the process.

UT Roster by Class

Here's a roster list. There are 17 seniors with 4 open scholarships so in theory that leaves 21 scholarship spots assuming no attrition and 100% qualification from this class. Both of those scenarios though are unlikely so I expect UT to sign at least 25 players and probably the full 28. The 25 player enrollee limit shouldn't be an issue because the early enrollees will count towards last year's total (I think there are 6 spots open from last year). The 28 man signee limit though could come into play.

I haven't followed the player's qualification issues from next year closely.
