2008 Titans

Won't we end up playing the Colts?

The Colts are the 5 seed... so they're going to play the Broncos more than likely... so they basically get an automatic advance to the 2nd round... that leaves the 3 seed (Jets or Dolphins) against the Ravens I'm guessing? That's a toss up but I think you give the edge to the 3 seed.

By rules - they send the lowest seed to the top seed.. which would be Colts (#5 - lowest left vs. highest #1 Titans)... and the Steelers would get the other team which is the higher seed (Miami or Jets)... so unless Baltimore upsets (if you want to call it an upset as the #6 seed) the #3 seed then we would get the Colts. I'm not 100% sure if that's how they do it but I believe they do.

So basically we would get screwed. Colts maybe the #5 seed but they're playing like the #1.

Baltimore will stomp a mudhole in either team they play. I really don't know why you would give Miami or New York an edge over them, considering how they are playing.

I'm worried that's what we're going to see. The Colts are notorious for sitting people when there is nothing to play for. Thats what has always made the choice to take Manning in fantasy drafts so difficult.

1 number: 40 attempts.

any time you show me a steeler team with 40 attempts, more than likely i'm going to show you a loss.

Titans took away the run, and ben in turn got it handed to him.

i knew it was going to be a long day when you got a sack with a 3 man rush.

but like i said last week...........if you thought your defense wouldn't match up with our offense, you just haven't been paying attention. what you saw today was the same steeler team that's been playing all year w/out the benefit of a defense stealing a game for the whole team.

leaving 6 pts on the feild, at least 6 points that is, in the first half didn't help.

anyway, it sucked, but at least we didn't "lose" anything as far as the season goes.

#2 seed going in, #2 coming out. no worries. See you in January.

I would have agreed with that notion had Haynesworth been on the field. Considering how opposing offenses did whatever they wanted against the Titans last year when he was out for three weeks, I was shocked at how the Titans still managed to stuff the run and constantly pressure Roethlisberger today.

The AFC playoff picture actually looks like it's setting up nicely for the Titans. Outside the fact that the Titans won't play on the road, both the Patriots and the Jets now need help just to get in the playoffs. Miami and Denver are both teams that I think the Titans can beat. We've already beat the Ravens, in Baltimore. The Colts look like the most dangerous team outside the bye teams and they're gonna play at Denver or San Diego in the 1st round.

My ideal has denver win the west and miami win the east

#3 seed - AFC east champ -MIA or the Pats
#4 seed - AFC west - The Chargers (they're gonna beat Denver senseless)
#5 - Indy
#6- Baltimore if they win against Jaxsonville,

With the way they been playing, I see Baltimore beating Jacksonville next week & whoever the AFC east champ is in the 1st round leading to a rematch with the Titans.

I am hoping that someway either Denver of San Diego can pull off the upset against the Colts, because I don't want any part of facing them for a 3rd time this season. If the Ravens make it into the playoffs, which it's looking like they will, they are going to have a good chance of winning their first round game as well. Either Indy or Balt. would be a tough Divisional matchup for TN.

see you say that, but i've watched this Steeler O line do the exact same thing to lesser defenses than the Titans all year long.

not that they didn't play well, but this is what the Steelers' offense has been all year.

Yeah their O-line is wretched, the Titans didnt even blitz today aside from a corner blitz or two, it was all about the Titans front 4 getting pressure. Now hopefully, we can add in a healthy KVB & Haynesworth for the AFC championship game rematch

I didnt get to watch the game today. I will say I was very surprised to see the final score. I thought if the titans won it would be real close game. I am happy that the titans won this one.
The playoffs will be difficult. It is a very real possibilty that the titans face either colts or ravens in their playoff game. Titans best bet is for the 2 division winners to win their games. I am sure Fisher doesnt want to play the colts for a 3rd straight time. Ravens are very tough team to beat. It would be difficult to beat them again.
What could happen is that titans/colts meet again in the afc championship game.

the AFC wildcard round will be ridiculous with Baltimore and INdy as the 5/6 seeds.

that's almost not fair for the 3/4 seeds. i can't see Denver or NYJ/MIA/NE beating either of those teams.

exactly...the first sack was on a 3 man rush. you don't need superstars for that.

Part of that is Big Ben being a moron and holding onto the ball for a long time. The D-line started wearing down and he had all day to throw in the 3rd quarter mainly.. he just made unforced stupid decisions... and he has butterfingers.

The O-line will look a lot better or worse depending on how your QB does with decision making. Our situation is quite the opposite - very few sacks on the year because Kerry makes good decisions and gets rid of the ball quick.

see that's the thing that gets me...this offense, minus alan faneca, is really the same offense as last year. and they had a great year last year, both running and throwing.

this year, i refuse to beleive faneca made that much of a difference--basically shutting down the whole offense--

i think it's a combination of a few things:
1. the o line is not as good as it has been in the past. it's just not.
2. Ben does hold the ball too long and at least 1/3 of his sacks are his fault.
3. there is no bonafied threat at WR. Holmes is nice, Washington is inconsistent, Ward, God love him, isn't going to out run anyone. Sweed is a rookie with a lot to learn.
4. playcalling has been erratic. they let ben call his plays, i'm not sure that's worked. routes seem to take too long to develop.
5. no tempo. when the Steelers have been at their best this year, its been seam routes to the TE, slants to the WR, Post routes with Ben on the move. Too many times he stands in a rapidly collapsing pocket and gets taken down. Move the pocket, get him space....

the offense this year to me has been out of sync in all phases......comparitively speaking anyway. they were much better last year with basically the same personnel.

I think Denver might have a slightly better chance than San Diego against the colts. The only reason is because it would be tougher for an indoor team like the colts to play in Denver. The cold weather and the high altitude. Neither Denver or San Diego are very good though. It would not surprise me in the least if the colts win against either of those teams.

true. but collectively, they're 13-2 and staying home, in a good way, for the holidays.

i'd definitely take your O line. in a heartbeat.

san diego will beat Denver next week and promptly get bounced in the wild card round of the playoffs.
