This team is an 11-1 talent team that will finish 9-3, IMO. Maybe 10-2 with some breaks.

UAB W 38-20 (see UCLA parentheses)

Florida L 41-31 (UF...and all of their fans...come in WAY overconfident after last year...and we bring a few surprises with our new O)

@Auburn W 23-31 (Just no way we can bring enough intensity after the UF game...it sucks that this game has to be here instead of after the NI game)

Northern Illinois W 47-10 (See UCLA/UAB parentheses)

@Georgia W 27-17 (UGA...already saddled with 2 losses...contiunes their downward spiral after coming into the season as odds on favorites for the NC...Moreno and Stafford continue to prove just how over-rated they really are)

Mississippi State W 31-7 (St. keeps it close for 2 1/2 quarters but their lack of offense is just too much to overcome as UT starts to pull away in the late 3rd)

Alabama W 49-18 (UT...motivated by an incredibly pissed off Phil Fulmer...never lets up...not even after its way out of reach)

@South Carolina W 20-18 (UT escapes Columbia by the skin of their teeth)

Wyoming W 41-10 (See UCLA/UAB/Northern Illinois parentheses)

@Vanderbilt W 34-13 (UT cruises in a tune up for the SECCG)

Kentucky W 31-17 (See Vandy parentheses)

SECCG...UT vs. Auburn W 34-24 (UT...rested and hitting on all cylinders...exacts revenge after being caught off guard during the regular season)

12-1...BCS national championship appearance against...you guessed it...THE OSU....

And...once again...the SEC speed is too much.... UT W 35-21

Granted...my expectations are a bit high....but I would rather expect alot and be disappointed than to expect bad and not be disappointed

pretty well said. i can agree with that.

and something that should be added is that at least 3 of the teams we play this year, maybe four have at least equal talent level, 2 arguably have better/more talent....

so that may have something to do with it.....

I am just not sure that UTK is really an 11-1 talent team with the depth issues on the DL, a new starting QB, and no returning gamebreaking WR.

I see where you're coming from but honestly...I don't think anyone we face is without similar questions...

UGA has an young and inexperienced Oline and no threat at all at WR

UF replaces some people on D...a D that wasn't very good last year...

Auburn is breaking in a new OB and offensive system...as well as replacing some good players on D

Bama lost bascially their only threat on O and some good defenders

USC doesn't have a QB, RB or WR to worry about...and I don't want to hear anyone tell me how that doesn't matter because of Spurrier...its amazing to me how the man is brilliant when he's got a whole barn full of studs...but not so much when he doesn't...

Who does that leave...oh well...the rest don't really matter anyway...

My point is...everyone on our schedule has almost as many if not more ?'s than us....So I chose to be highly optimistic until I'm proven wrong

I think we will be a better team than last year, but maybe not so much record wise. 9-3 without the blow-out losses is my gut feeling.

You think our DTs are more talented than average? (realizing that largely depends on who you are comparing them to) Bolden maybe... but his drawback seems to be maturity. I think we could be a 11-1 team with better DTs... In the end I agree that we are probably a 9-3 team.

Where I think that leaves us... is still on the short end of the stick in the coaching department against all of those teams... thats the key reason I don't expect better than 9-3.

But I appreciate the optimism... its certainly not out of the realm of possibility that we win the SEC.

i think the coaching, if all of what we hear is true, may even out a little bit if clawson is half as good as we hope he is and he is the guy truly running the offense....both during the week and inthe game.

if nothing else, i think it helps us the first 2-4 games just for the newness of it all.

Jake, thats a good point, and while thats true on one side of the ball, my key concern is Chavis figuring out how to stop the spread option, and second, Fulmer developing/approving game plans which give us a good chance to beat the more talented teams on our schedule.... and adapting to changes on gameday as they present themselves.

I agree with the season but the Florida game will be different because if we get ahead like we usually do against florida, it will be over.

All in all, I don't know. There are too many question marks to guess, at this point. We could flounder and finish in the 8-4/7-5 range, or the new offense and JC could flourish and compete for the East. One thing's for sure: the SEC will be tough. We'll see. . . .

God I cant wait to the UT/Bama game. Cause MY 2008 prediction is that your post count will drop dramaticly after the 3rd Sat in October. :good!:

With Bama's schedule and talent/experience level, their fans should be happy with 8-4. They will more than likely duplicate last years results, or one win better.
For us, 10-2 if we beat UF. 9-3 if we lose.

What's with the Auburn lovefest? They have been a consistently good team for the last couple of years and now they are changing what has worked for them. They were a football team like we are, relying on being tougher and stronger than the other team and it fared them well. Now they have switched to a true spread and they don't have the athletes for it this year. Granted, in a couple of years they could recruit well enough to fill it, but as of now they don't have the talent to pull off the spread. And they're QB Kodi Burns was not able to learn 13 plays last year. Now he's expected to learn an offense that requires much more thinking. It's a pipe dream. They are an 8-5 team this year. We will be able to blitz 7 men about 75% of the time and Kodi will likely throw 3 INTs in the game.
