Arian Foster at FB?

anyone? anyone?

Not sure his ego is ready to go from the starting TB at the beginning of the year to Fullback. At 6'1, 215lb he needs to get bigger to play fullback to be able to block well.

How big was Bryson in 98? I dont think he was you're normal fullback size.

Also if Cutcliffe wants this breakneck speed offense thats just one more threat to catch the ball out of the backfield.

Bryson's listed at 230 on the NFL website. I'm sure he's gained weight over the years.

i like the idea, but I don't know if Foster is ready to be a fullback.

Well he better learn. I don't see him getting many carries if Coker comes back in 07 with his same knack to break that big one.

Sometimes you have to just swallow your pride.

Who says we're even going to use a fullback next year? Cut started using more and more 2 TE sets during the 06 season, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we're completely 2 TE next year. That said, here's how I see the starting lineup.

QB - Erik Ainge
HB - LaMarcus Coker
WR - Brent Vinson
WR - Austin Rogers / Kenny O'Neal
TE - Brad Cottam
TE - Chris Brown / Jeff Cottam
OT - Chris Scott
OG - Jacques McClendon
C - Josh McNeil
OG - Anthony Parker / Ramon Foster
OT - Eric Young

DE - Xavier Mitchell
DT - J.T. Mapu
DT - Demonte Bolden
DE - Antonio Reynolds
OLB - Ryan Karl
MLB - Rico McCoy / Jerod Mayo
OLB - Jerod Mayo / Rico McCoy
CB - Roshaun Fellows
FS - Jon Hefney
SS - Antonio Wardlow
CB - Eric Berry

K - Daniel Lincoln (really not sure)
P - Britton Colquitt

This is as of right now. Of course it depends on position changes and who really steps up between now and fall.

If Chris Scott gets into the weight room and gets back some of that lost strength, the left side of that O-line could be really, really good.

I'll say we go with 2 TE 2 WR set due to a lot of young guys at WR. And this line up is for our Sept.1 because it will def. change by the end of the year

TE-B.Cottom
TE-Brown
RB-Coker
QB-Ainge
OT-Young
OG-McClendon
C-McNeil
OG-Foster
OT-Jones

Defense
DE-Mitchell
DT-Bolden
DT-Mapu
DE-Reynolds (I'd like to see R.Ayers play some)
LB-Karl
LB-Mayo
LB-McCoy
CB-Fellows
CB-Hefney
SS-Wardlow
FS-Berry

P-Colquitt
K-Lincoln

KR: Vinson and O'Neal

2005 Ranked third on the team with over 500 all-purpose yards while returning punts and kickoffs.

2006 he was 7th on the team with 101 receiving yards on just 14 catches. 7 Kick returns for 118 yards. He only fumbled twice this season, losing only one on the crushing hit he took against UK on the kickoff return.

Oh, and Pssst. 48 yard TD pass to Lamarcus Coker vs. Florida.

I would hardly call him Simon Birch and it's pretty obvious he can do a few things right since he is given more responsibility than most of the other WR's.

Taylor is a terrible WR right now. He needs a lot of work to be an SEC WR. Lincoln will be the kicker next year.

Don't forget Johnson on the OL.

I really like the Foster to FB idea. If he wants to play on Sundays he might want to warm up to it as well. In reality, he might even keep getting the ball the same amount of time which probably won't happen if he stays at TB.

I believe Bryson played at about 225 but would block anyone on the field.

Taylor isn't physical enough... or quick enough to make up for not being physical. The one thing said about G Jones during the AA game was that he was the most physical of the WR's in the game.

I think Shelley will probably start opposite O'Neal and have a good season. They'll play 5 or 6 deep @ WR.

No offense, but I don't know if Shelley will ever even see the field at UT. Hancock could be one to watch for.

Hardesty would be a better FB. He is alot better blocker than Foster.

I think the one-two punch of Hardesty and Coker will be outstanding next year. Hardesty was still slowed by his knee last year. I think the two of them will be hard to tell apart unless you can see the numbers next fall.

I had forgotten Hancock. He could definitely be in the mix. In fact, all these talented guys are why I think the Vols will be able to find a couple of really solid WR's.

What have you heard about Shelley? I read somewhere that he was coming along?
