So how does everyone think the SEC will shape up next year?

Assuming most of Florida's guys go pro, I believe UT will be the clear-cut #1 in the SEC. Vandy loses some key guys, but with Shan Foster they will still be ok. Who knows what will happen with Kentucky. Steele should be able to keep Bama competitive. Georgia is steadily improving. Everyone's back for Arkansas.

Here are my predictions for the 2007-2008 SEC season:

East
1. Tennessee
2. Florida
3. Vanderbilt
4. Georgia
5. Kentucky (could change depending on new coach)
6. South Carolina

West
1. Arkansas
2. Alabama
3. Mississippi State
4. LSU
5. Ole Miss
6. Auburn

I know this won't happen, but would anyone else cry if all the '04s at Florida decided to return?

Vanderbilt will be back to normal (terrible) without Byars. I would pick them 4th or 5th in the East at best.

UF's guys are gone. If they stay, I still think the Vols would win the SEC.

Mississippi St will win the west

I agree...MSU wins the West, with Arkansas and LSU on their heels.

My east predictions:

1. Tennessee
2. Florida
3. Kentucky
4. South Carolina
4. Vanderbilt
4. Georgia

the bottom 3 are a pick 'em

I'd have to wait and see who UK gets to be their coach before I made a prediction concerning them.

UT should obviously be favored to win the East though.

UK has already lost Morris. Unless the new coach manages to get Patterson and Lucas, I think they will be pretty bad next year.

If UF's guys return, and they give the effort they should, they would still annihilate anybody.

I see at least Brewer and Horford leaving. Noah may come back because of the deep class but I doubt it. They do have a good class coming in.

I think, barring Shan Foster leaving early, Vandy will finish ahead of South Carolina. USC lost their 2 best players and their 3 point specialist. It will definitely be a race for worst but I think Vandy has just enough firepower to beat USC.

As for the West, it looks to be quite jumbled next year again.

Ole Miss-lots of losses(Abernathy, Doyne, Sanders) but still have the best coach in the West

Mississippi State-a ton of returning talent(barring Gordon and maybe another player or two leaving, doubtful though) and very little losses

Alabama-lose only Davidson to graduation(though Steele or Hendrix could jump), do they go back to the 05-06 mold or resemble this past year?

Arkansas-lose nobody and bring in a couple players

Auburn-same as Arkansas

LSU-lose a couple posts, but gain a pretty good class, where are the shooters?

I think the East will be a whole lot more clear cut with UT on the top with UF and UGA battling out for 2nd. Kentucky will suffer inside with the loss of Obrzut, Perry, Thomas, and Morris and breaking in a new coach. This could be the year UK doesn't make the tourney. Both USC and Vandy will be in dire needs of a playmaker.

Again, alot of this depends on players leaving early but I'd give us the edge right now.

Who does Kentucky have inside and who is their coach? They have 2 posts on roster I believe(Carter unless he scoots and Stevenson). They have a few coming in but none are can't miss types.

Vandy definitely won't finish in the top half next year.

UGA only loses a 3 point shooter and a mediocre post and is bringing in a solid class. If noone leaves early, they could challenge UF for the 2nd spot.

If Arkansas hires an actual SEC caliber coach, I may have to rethink my position on the SEC West.

They're about to sign Gillispie hat. If that deal goes through, they'll challenge Stansbury's regime for SEC West crown next season..

I hope Billy Clyde's smarter than that. Working at Arkansas means you have to interact with Frank Broyles. That alone makes it a bad job.

TN, MSU, and ARK should all be pretty good next year. the west may be a bit more jumbled than the East....TN will likely come in as the favorite.

it sets up pretty well for us...we'll be experienced and talented.....UF, UK and GA will all be talented, but the exp. factor will be immensely beneficial to our cause next season.

MSU though will have similar situation, though they didn't make the NCAA this year, they are still making a deep post season run and if nothing else it's given them more time to play as a team etc...

right now, MSU and TN will probably come in as the fav's in each division.
