Maybe every time Heupel goes for it on 4th and long instead of kicking field goals we should remember Florida 2000 and try not to complain

Our you can remember Spurrier going for it on 4th and 11 in 1996, and imagine similar possibilities with Huepel’s offense.

Travis Stephens was incredible that game. The Oline was also very good. The DLine was outstanding that game as well. If that game had replay available we would’ve forced a lot of turnovers that were called incomplete passes. Grossman took some big shots that evening.
Don’t forget Florida got a lot of questionable calls that game too. grossman had at least 2 fumbles ruled incomplete passes

I find it strange that Clausen hasn't gotten as much credit as he deserved for his entire career at UT. He started 44 games - guided UT to a 14-1 record on the road - And a 34-10 overall record......
Because we have a large segment of our fan base that doesn’t understand football and are idiotic rednecks

Where old, festered wounds come to get recalled and scraped raw again. So much Scots-Irish... so little healing and moving ahead.

True. But in 2001, he didn’t play well at all. Without Stephens we lose handily.

Like someone else said, in 2001 Witten was much more of a problem for you guys than Clausen.

In 2001, all Clausen had to do was had the ball off to Stephens.

Walking out of the stadium that night I remember one of our fans questioning why Clausen was leading the band “when that #34 tore us a new one all night”.

The things you remember…

He made up for it the following year, where his performance contributed directly to the outcome.
I gave you a like because this is solid, expert level trolling. It's true, it's relevant to the conversation, and it hurts the target audience a little.

Well done.

Clausens average yards per attempted pass was 3.9. What stats are you looking at that says he played great?
I was there and saw it. It’s not about 40 yard td passes. He played well. The OL and RBs dominated also. The WRs minus Witten played well. The defense played well especially the line

I find it strange that people give Clausen so much credit for the UF win in 2001.

He made some nice plays early to that FR tight end ... can't remember his name, lol. But that tight end fell apart. Worst game of his career hanging onto balls. But yeah, we were run heavy in that one.

I remember being at the game in 2000. It just felt like UT had the win the entire game. We were in section N, so the Gaffney catch was on the other end of the field. I remember we couldn’t believe it was a catch, and I remember the feeling we had leaving the stadium was that we had won. It was a wierd game for sure.

That TE was Soph. Jason Witten. He had a horrible game in 2001 vs. UF.

Clausen was the heir apparent as a true FR. But his arm was injured for that game from too many throwing reps, iirc. I remember that we were ready and handled Alex Brown well. We win with Clausen. We win if we dont come away with only 12 points on six red zone trips: four field goals and a turnover. Three field goals came while they were inside the five-yard line, and two came inside the one!!! We win if we don't hand Lito Sheppard a golden t3rd. We win (probably, it was 3rd dn) if the refs dont rob us on the pass breakup.

But, it's Florida, so that's what we do!
Alex brown was tipped off on the snap count when he had his career game against us. The next year he jumped offsides 4 times and was handled with ease.

For all the crying that is done regarding the Tennessee-Florida game, this is the one game I will acknowledge Tennessee should have won.

Having said that, the reason has nothing to do with Gaffney.

Tennessee ran over, around, and through Florida all game long and settled for field goals the whole game.

I have never seen a game before or since where a team so thoroughly dominated the line of scrimmage and could not get in the end zone.
And that's why I want to beat UF more than anyone else. Yall own us mentally. We always find a way to loose to you

A little known detail of the 2000 game. After the Gaffney TD, Leonard Scott nearly busted a KO return for a TD which would've lived in Vol lore for eternity. He got tripped up at about the 40 yard line, but I saw the hole wide open from my seat in the south end zone. One Gator getting him behind saved something epic from happening. Still should have never go to that point.
