Much like Clint Stoerner, I'm just going to leave this right here

stumble and fumble.png

Does everyone remember where they were at? Will anyone admit to leaving Neyland early? Anyone remember the party post-game? I remember telling the person next to me right before the play "If they run a bootleg, we're F'ed"

I was in my bedroom watching.

Had a shot at some tickets but couldn't go since my mom had something she needed to be out of town for and my dad didn't want to leave my brother and sister at home by themselves all day in Nashville. 7th grade me (and now me in my 30's) still wishes I was there, would have for sure been there at the end. I never leave games early, even when it gets absolutely embarrassing either way.

Me and a buddy were headed up the steps trying to get out. Turned the corner and the crowd erupted. Went back and watched the glory.

After it was over one fan was standing at the corner of one ramp high fiving each fan and screaming, “TEMPE BABY TEMPE BABY!”

Me and a friend were literally heading for the exit also. Had my back turned when it happened. It felt like the entire staduim was going to crumble. Neyland turned into an insane asylum and I don't think I ever saw it that wild. The end of the 98 Florida game was close but there was something about that fumble that was on a level of it's on. I still get chills remembering it.

We were there....what an ending to a game! After the fumble Travis Henry was a man on a mission!
He ran like a man possessed. He carried half of that Arkansas defense down the field with him. I think they could have put 15 men of the field and still not kept him out of that endzone. The Cheese earned his nickname that day.

Was in grad school in Memphis watching the game with a bunch of Arky fans. And we had a keg. Still remember the 'can't believe that just happened' feeling like it was yesterday.

My neighbor took me, I was a kid. After failing to convert the 4th they said it was time to leave. I convinced them to stay. Greatest sporting event memory of my life! Will never forget it. We had Arkansas fans directly behind us. I have never seen so many flying beverages in my life. They were out of control after the turnover. If Tennessee is stuck in mediocrity for eternity I can die a happy man due to the 98 season and that experience.

The QB-trainer my son works with was doing a phone interview right before his workout the other day. It was with a local Arkansas sports radio show.
I asked, "What radio show was that?"
He said "that's my buddy Clint"
I said "Clint who?"

My son (who was born in 2003) and I about fell out of our chair.
I said, "that dude's a TN legend."

Upper deck, top row, South End zone, on the corner nearest the UC, eating peanuts. I have never left a UT game early for any reason. No matter what the score was. Therefore, I was watching every second and hoping a miracle. It happened!

I was there, rainy and miserable all day. First game ranked #1 in the nation and we all thought here we go again. Never thought once about leaving early, this was a team of destiny. Great win and wild after party! GBO

I was in the end zone seats and watched this unfold as if the hand of God was at work.

Arkansas had a great team that year. Once we didn’t convert on 4th I thought it was over.

Years following that play, no matter how dire a game looked I always thought there was a chance to win. At least I felt that way during my time on the Hill in the early 2000s.
