Fahr Martin.

While your at it, tell Tucky to Fahr Cal, he got all them 5* and still can't make the tourney.

Yeah, but next season Cal will have a minimum six out of the twenty top high school players in the nation.
I believe Cal will be around for a few more years.
GO VOLS!

I agree. Next year will tell me all I need to know about CCM tho.

Do we lose Stokes to the draft ? or Mcrae ?

Next year, it is hard to imagine the possiblities of having a starting lineup like this:

F: Stokes
F: Maymon
G: Golden
G: McRae
G: Hubbs

and a bench that includes:

F: Yemi
F: AJ Davis
G/F: Chievous
G/F: Edwards
G: Richardson
G: Landry
G: Moore

We will be one of the deepest teams in the SEC and this list isn't even including any late signees CCM picksup...

Next year or bust for CCM imo.

At the very least make the tournament but I'd say one or two wins as well.

So Maymon was gone... we were still mediocre in a terrible conference. Hence Kentucky and our Vols losing to Robert Morris and Mercer in the first round.

As if missing the tournament back to back seasons wasn't pathetic/depressing enough, I actually got my hopes up Tennessee could win the NIT. Couldn't even get out of the first round. Sadly, I still believed in Dooley in year three by the time many gave up on him after year two. Starting to wonder if CCM will meet the same fate. He absolutely has to make the tournament next year or I don't know how anybody could believe in him for a 4th season.

Would be nice to see a PG somewhere...anywhere in the line-up next year.

If stokes leaves its about money he is not ready imo. to hot and cold never know which would show up for game. double double guy or 9 missed free throws and 3 for 12 shooting

I personally don't like the atmosphere from CCM. Under CBP, the overall crowd was more pumped. But I don't think he'll get canned even if we have a mediocre season next year. To me, TN is a football school.

And, that team will still struggle to score against a zone defense (no consistent outside shooters). They will also continue to struggle to take care of the ball when they are pressed.

On the other end, quick guards will still get to the basket when they want to and our defense will continue to not cause many turnovers.

Plus, as evidenced last night, it apparently has to be a game that is deemed important enough by the players and the coach before they will put out the necessary effort.

Mercer in the first round of the nit?

Twas the NIT. Not the NCAA. :snoring:

Mercer also beat Alabama this year in the regular season, something we failed to do in our own conference tourney (which, had we done, need I remind you--we would have likely made the NCAAs), and also beat FSU this year.

Mercer is not a bad team. At all. They are a smaller school, and simply had more to play for in the NIT than we did.

Now, moving on to next season... :good!:

I don't see Stokes leaving. Esp. if he can bolster his worth with the freedom that Maymon returning will give him.

Next season should be much, much better, with the arrival of a [stud] PG, a healthy Maymon, and hopefully the return of McRae and Stokes. JMO.

Agree. And, I admit, I'm so pumped about the arrival of Hubbs that I forget about Landry.

Lots of guard depth...

We are returning the same team that has flopped in the NIT twice. They cant win games when they matter, @ Georgia, Georgia, and Alabama in Atlanta. Those arent even big games. They won big games when nothing was on the line. Maymon will be a sight for sore eyes but this team cant score because they cant shoot. If hubbs isnt a flop then maybe next year will be good. They also seem to have trouble playing defense and breaking a press, which i learned in third grade. The team is bi polar and has the mental fortitude of a girl scout going through buds training. Lets make more excuses for piss poor performance two years in a row. Please dont give me any noise about the winning streak at the end of the year, we didnt make the tourney and got embarassed by Mercer. Those wins mean nothing now.

If Maymon is our best player than we are in real trouble. Maymon is not very good playing against taller or even more athletic players than he is. Nobody seems to remember all of the throw up shots in the lane hoping more for a foul than making the shot. He does play hard though I'll give him that. We had him last year and no NCAA. I'm not counting on Hubbs until he comes in and shows us something otherwise he is only the next great hope.

Solid and totally fair post. :good!:

If McRae continues to be as good as he is, Hubbs comes in as good as advertised, Golden puts together a full good season and we have a good backup pointguard that can take care of the ball when Golden is out, if Maymon and Stokes play together and our bench players consistently contribute we will have a top 3 team in the SEC.

This sentence has 2 things: a lot of "if's" and a very long run-on.

That was a very well coached basketball team I watched last night. Unfortunately it was a 3000 student college from somewhere in Georgia - Macon I think. If we were losing football games to Carson Newman -- you might see the other side of the coin a little more clearly. I am not advocating firing anyone - but please understand this is equal if not worse than losing to Kentucky in football with a wide receiver playing quarterback.

We need an upgrade in coaching. Hopefully the current regime can improve - but we are not supposed to be losing to the Mercer's of the world - especially in our house.
