These players have alot of talent but unfortunately they are simply a product of the environment they were raised in. If you go back and look at the company alot of these players keep and the neighborhoods they grew up in, it probably would not be as surprising as one might think when these players do, in fact, get arrested and make poor decisions. This is in no way taking up for their actions, but we also cannot assume that these players come from stable homes and live in gated communities. I am so proud of Coach Derek Dooley and the emphasis he is putting on recruiting and signing the right kind of players to come to Tennessee. Darren Myles Jr. was a great player coming out of high school. A four star if I am not mistaking. Unfortunately, the guy could not put it together off the field therefore who cares how many stars he had? That is Nick Saban's approach and also Derek Dooley's. A three star player who gives his all and keeps his act together is much more valuable to a team than a 4 or 5 star player who possesses all the talent in the world but winds up turning into "Lawrence Phillips" once he gets to college. This situation has really opened my eyes up in terms of the recruiting process. I want players who are talented AND motivated and focused on doing the RIGHT thing. Here's to Derek Dooley and staff for putting the emphasis on what truly matters! Go get 'em coach!

I hate to see these kids with so much promise and so great opportunities continue to make mistakes like this.

LOL I never understand people saying, "oh I hate to see these poor kids in trouble". They are also considered young adults and no not to get into stupid s***! I'm not blaming them for the fight cause I know a lot of cops can be Aholes and start stuff especially off duty but just stay home and concentrate on school and football!

Two UGA football players arrested early today (UPDATED WITH DETAILS) | UGA sports blog

Bruce Feldman tweeted it. This is disappointing for the SEC. Coaches need to crack down, Dooley especially, on these kids and let them know that playing college football is a privilege not a right.

Between the incident with our football players and the incident with these Georgia players, I am becoming ashamed to be a fan of the SEC as a whole.

Can we win a NC with choir boys? No. We will weed out the troublemakers every year and keep marching on with our eyes on the prize. We need impact players. I laugh when I hear the "I would take a team full of 3-stars with high character than deal with any drama" quotes. 3-stars do not win NC. They get you a decent bowl game when they have good coaching. They are still kids, all we can do is give advice to the ones we have any influence on. In a perfect world, Dooley could pull out a Power T belt and take appropriate action.(Grammer police feel free to chime in)

What's wrong with being an impact player AND staying out of trouble? Apparently it is one or the other these days in college football. If I had to choose, a 3 star player who is still on the team is better than a 4-5 star player who is not. See Nu'Keese Richardson and Darren Myles Jr. for details.

I will never be ashamed to be a Tennessee fan or SEC fan. I don't like what has happened at Tennessee lately but I am a Vols fan no matter what. I might not like certain players but a few bad seeds don't stop me from rooting for the team as a whole. Go Vols!!!

Well, the dreaded email from all my Razorback fans came late yesterday and this morning about the "Vol Brawl". I replied back with, "Didn't two of your players get arrested in the last 3 weeks for DWI?". Their reply, "Not that I know of." I sent this link..Arkansas OT Oden Arrested, Charged With DWI|Arkansas News ... Anyway, they came back with, "Well at least we didn't hit a cop." My reply, "The cop incident was a bad thing, but you are telling me that driving under the influence with a kid brother is not as bad? I don't remember a guy getting killed over a punch, but if you would like I can get your many cases where someone was killed by drunk driver." Coversation stopped.

Texas alums are also up there in the arrest category with Cedric Benson and Vince Young leading the way. It will only be a matter of time before their undergrads start getting arrested again, especially with the amount of seniors they lost last year.
