These players have alot of talent but unfortunately they are simply a product of the environment they were raised in. If you go back and look at the company alot of these players keep and the neighborhoods they grew up in, it probably would not be as surprising as one might think when these players do, in fact, get arrested and make poor decisions. This is in no way taking up for their actions, but we also cannot assume that these players come from stable homes and live in gated communities. I am so proud of Coach Derek Dooley and the emphasis he is putting on recruiting and signing the right kind of players to come to Tennessee. Darren Myles Jr. was a great player coming out of high school. A four star if I am not mistaking. Unfortunately, the guy could not put it together off the field therefore who cares how many stars he had? That is Nick Saban's approach and also Derek Dooley's. A three star player who gives his all and keeps his act together is much more valuable to a team than a 4 or 5 star player who possesses all the talent in the world but winds up turning into "Lawrence Phillips" once he gets to college. This situation has really opened my eyes up in terms of the recruiting process. I want players who are talented AND motivated and focused on doing the RIGHT thing. Here's to Derek Dooley and staff for putting the emphasis on what truly matters! Go get 'em coach!
