(2) Thunder vs. (3) Lakers

It's incredible how Laker fans, who have been treated to such great team players like Jerry West, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, etc. continue to defend Kobe's selfish way of basketball.

No it doesn't. It shows that Kobe is a complete ball hog.

Yeah, Kobe got to the line. But when he didn't, he was completely ineffective. When the refs let them play in the 4th, you saw exactly what happened. Kobe struggled and took horrible, horrible shots while getting away from Pau/Bynum.

Again, you can take your 14 free throws and ruin the offense. I'll take 13-25.

Please explain. I want to hear this.

What? That Kobe was getting calls and getting to the line. Watch what happens when he doesn't get the calls in the 4th. He ruins the offense. I'll take an extra eight shots from Bynum and Gasol instead of, let's say, eight free throw attemps from Kobe since Kobe kept trying to get to the line.

You're the one who is basically saying nothing is Kobe's fault by saying you would rather Kobe just shoot.

Is any of the loss on Kobe, in your eyes?

No what I was saying is that I'm going with Kobe's point per shot over Gasol/Bynum

Yea it has to be he is the leader. I'm not as foolish to sit and not blame the main player. He is the catalyst that makes everything the lakers are, work.

Guys on the team have to want to take the shot instead of hiding behind Kobe. Bynum and Peace(Bless his heart) I think would take the shot. Gasol on the other hand has lost what he brought to the team 2 years ago. A go to threat that would take the shot if need be.

Kobe= 13 FTA in first three quarters...four in the 4th.

I'll take three-four extra shots from Gasol/Bynum please.

Kobe has never been a leader. Come on. From Curt Schilling:

Kobe. This one stunned me a little bit. Who doesn’t know Kobe Bryant right? I only know what I have heard, starting awhile back with the entire Shaq debacle. I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other on or about him other than to know that people feel he might be one of the 4-5 greatest players to ever lace it up. What I do know is what I got to see up close and hear, was unexpected. From the first tip until about 4 minutes left in the game I saw and heard this guy ***** at his teammates. Every TO he came to the bench pissed, and a few of them he went to other guys and yelled about something they weren’t doing, or something they did wrong. No dialog about “hey let’s go, let’s get after it” or whatever. He spent the better part of 3.5 quarters pissed off and ranting at the non-execution or lack of, of his team. Then when they made what almost was a historic run in the 4th, during a TO, he got down on the floor and basically said ‘Let’s f’ing go, right now, right here” or something to that affect. I am not making this observation in a good or bad way, I have no idea how the guys in the NBA play or do things like this, but I thought it was a fascinating bit of insight for me to watch someone in another sport who is in the position of a team leader and how he interacted with his team and teammates. Watching the other 11 guys, every time out it was high fives and “Hey nice work, let’s get after it” or something to that affect. He walked off the floor, obligatory skin contact on the high five, and sat on the bench stone faced or pissed off, the whole game. Just weird to see another sport and how it all works. I would assume that’s his style and how he plays and what works for him because when I saw the leader board for scoring in the post season his name sat up top at 31+ a game, can’t argue with that. But as a fan I was watching the whole thing, Kobe, his teammates and then the after effects of conversations. He’d yell at someone, make a point, or send a message, turn and walk away, and more than once the person on the other end would roll eyes or give a ‘whatever dude’ look.

Kobe kept trying to get to the line in the fourth? I am pretty sure all of his shots except two were from outside 15 feet. When he was getting "the calls" he was in the lane or 2 feet from it.

Again how does Kobe taking more free throws hurt a team?

Ok I get your point more now and understand it. Of course it makes more sense since Kobe averages more points per shot. However, when Bynum is playing the way he was in the first half, and for him to only get 4 attempts in the second half, that just isn't good basketball in my opinion.

A lot of Bynums problems tonight was Kobe shooting (granted if Kobe is making those shots none of this matters and Kobe is the hero).

If that makes sense, what i'm trying to say.

Did you see how many pump fakes he tried to put on to get contact? And only one of them worked.

Because he then forces things, takes thing out of rhythm, and goes to his ball hog ways. He wasn't getting calls in the 4th, and instead of realzing this, he went into his patented "I'm Kobe ****ing Bryant. I can do whatever the hell I want" and cost his team the game.

Are you insane? Kobe is not the leader of that team?

Who is? I wanna know this because your grasping now.

Right now? Nobody. If you mean Kobe is the "supposed" leader, then yeah sure. Is he a good leader? No. Not. At. All. I can cite countless examples.

And Phil Jackson was the leader of their title teams.

Yea it does. There were multiple times when Peace had an oppurtunity to throw the ball inside to Bynum and he did not. Reggie even commented on the no look for Bynum.

I honestly think, if Peace and Kobe got the ball to Bynum more tonight, they would have walked with the game. He was dominating like you guys have been wanting him to.

That's because Metta has the basketball IQ of my dog.

They should be at least be tied 2-2, but Mike Brown continues to prove he is a moron with his offense.

So Phil was for the Bulls also.

5 enough said.

Obligatory 3 were because of shaq he did it all himself.

You go ask the players and coaches on that team who the leader is and they will say Kobe.

Now if your asking a year ago you would have two different answers. Kobe, and Fish

I've got to agree with you on this one. To me, Kobe is definitely the leader of this team.

No, not enough said. That proves ****. Wilt won two titles as the best player on the team, and he was a worse leader than Kobe. Five rings, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't excuse his selfish play and actions. Show me what Kobe has done without Phil Jackson. Jack ****. At least Michael got to the conference finals once without Phil.

And a leader doesn't A) Get the greatest coach fired. B) get the most dominant center of his generation traded. C) Doesn't tell people that Andruw Bynum's ass should be shipped out for Jason Kidd. D) Doesn't do what Curt Schilling described. E) Doesn't demand a trade because apparently his team wasn't good enough, despite the fact he broke up a potential dynasty. F) Doesn't throw one of his teammates under his bus to police when he is the one being investigated. G) Doesn't routinely blow up the offense and go on his own and ruin the flow of the offense, which he has always done.

If by leader you mean "We have no one else, we pay him $25M a year and have a coach that couldn't inspire gophers to dig holes..." then yeah you got a leader.
