In the first quarter of the Vandy game we saw a brief preview of the offense Butch Jones wants to run. That style will be required to advance past an 8 win season. A one dimensional offense can be shut down as we saw in three of the four losses this year. That offense favors an efficient passing game a little more than power run. That offense requires a QB proficient in passing the ball. This off season will see a QB competition between ALL available QB bodies for the starting position.
As has been illustrated Butch Jones requires that players exhibit ability and a good knowledge of a position on the practice field before they take the field in a real game. This will be true of the QB position for the 2016 team. Dobbs has the lead going in because of his experience but AS OF NOW he has not shown the passing proficiency that Jones will require to run his desired offense. Dobbs could very well improve his passing skills between now and the opening of fall camp or Dormady (or one of the other QBs) could step up and be the starting QB for 2016.
It should be an interesting off season to say the least!
