I feel like its less of a factor in college. If anything, the upsets are what get people watching. The NBA is very much a league driven by superstars playing in huge markets, and the NBA benefits when those teams are in its biggest stages.

I swear... Pacers were on national television 5 times max. I think it was 3 or 4. NBA fans who talk about the Pacers see the box score and that's all they know. They know nothing about the team because they never see them. Pacers were playing the Thunder like 70 games into the season and the NBA chose to nationally televise Heat vs. Bobcats on ESPN. Best team vs. worst team vs. #1 seed Thunder and #2 seed Pacers at the time. Crazy kik

Not disputing that.

My point was it trickled down to college. We were owning Ohio State. We were up like 20 and suddenly in the second we started getting called for made up fouls because Oden is the greatest player since Michael Jordan is what everyone was made to believe. Refs took over that game and it was college. Wouldn't want Wayne Chism to beat Greg Oden lol

There it is.

Tennessee was up 49-32 at halftime. Pretty sure we had a 20 point lead in the second half.

They shot 35 free throws to our 17 and won 85-84. I'm not just talking about the differential, I'm talking about watching the game. We weren't even fouling and they started going to the line every other possession. It was insane how the refs took over that game.

Edit: Should add they were hacking us and no calls but anyways... we got screwed.

Anyways...

I could see New York coming out and pummeling us in game 2. I'm hoping they knew what we were doing and just couldn't stop it but I have a feeling they'll adjust. We both just got done playing less physical teams. KG/Green/Bass and Horford/Smith aren't centers and power forwards. They're power forwards and small forwards.

If JR Smith and Carmelo just shot with average efficiency they would've had about 13 more points between them. Truth be told nobody on the Knicks played well.

Truth be told, there is a reason the Pacers defense was #1 in field goal percentage and 3 point percentage. And rebounding... and just fell behind the Grizzlies right at the end of the season for points allowed with their skid.

Paul George and Lance Stephenson might be the best defensive wing combo in the NBA. Hibbert is one of the best centers in the NBA. David West isn't too shabby either but Paul George and Roy Hibbert are two of the top 10 in the NBA for any position.

They might be besides Wade and Lebron, I agree. This is why I wouldn't want Granger to take Stephenson's minutes when he comes back.

Hibbert is a top 10 player? Is that what you're saying?

Pacers only have one player older than 27. Knicks only have one player younger than 27.

I remember hearing comparisons when he was up and coming to T-Mac and other than shooting percentage, I can kind of season. His scoring has increased at about the rate T-Mac's did and he's an athletic freak like T-Mac. I just don't know if he can ever be as pure of score as T-Mac.

Throughout the season though, I started hearing comparisons of Scottie Pippen because of his defense and being a do it all player.

I would gladly take either outcome. Assuming he doesn't get injured like T-Mac and doesn't struggle as much as T-Mac in the playoffs. I suppose Paul George is 3 for 3 in making the playoffs and 2 for 3 making it out of the first round. T-Mac just made it out of the first round for the first time this year?

I like the Scottie Pippen comparison. Although he has a ways to go to be THAT GOOD defensively.

True.

He just turned 23 on May 2nd though and Pippen was 22 coming into the league I believe because he played all 4 years in college.

PG may never be as good as Pippen defensively but he's still very young and you could say raw even. He was very raw coming out of Fresno State.

He had been practicing with the team leading up to the season and they pulled the plug on him right before the season started which was a huge blow. The worst part is the front office knew about this injury during the playoffs last year so it should have already been corrected in my opinion. Then he came back for 5 games or so and his knee was sore but they thought it would go away. Of course not, so again... an even bigger blow. He had to have surgery again and I believe he's out for the season.

The question now becomes, what do you do with him after this season? Some people question if this is the type of knee injury you can come back. If you can come back from it, how much of your former self will you actually be?

Does that open the door for a trade? Do you trade him when his value is low after missing a season? Surely someone out there would roll the dice because he's in the final of year of his contract. So if he can't perform, you still get cap space. And if he can perform, he's a guy that can put up 18-5-3 a game. Or do you wait until the deadline hoping that you can showcase him a bit and raise his value?

I hear time and time again the Rockets are interested in him and I don't know why. I know the Warriors had been interested in him but I think they may finally be happy with Harrison Barnes. I know they had wanted a proven small forward previously. The Kings are another team that were interested as well I believe but they've has an ownership.

What to do with Granger... I don't know. I assume the team will keep him at least until the trade deadline because he's a life long Pacers and they want to see if he'll be a free added in the offseason. If not, his expiring contract should hold some value with the cap being lowered to 65 million. 14 million is a lot to cut off the books.

Tonight's game is pretty big.

1-1 and it's anybody's game.

Steal the first 2 on the road and it's dangerous territory.

Game 1 gives me hope that the Pacers can come out and take game 2 but I'd be surprised if they walk out of New York 2-0.

George/West/Stephenson will make work for everything.

They already used it on. Wasn't even on a contract really worth using it on lol. James Posey sucks and was making 7 million a year but he only had 2 years left. I might have just let him play one more season and then packaged his expiring contract in the offseason or at the trade deadline next season.

It wouldn't be hard to propel the Knicks to a win after seeing game 1 though. They were letting the Pacers play physical basketball and dare I say foul? If they start calling those then it changes everything. And not only if they start calling those fouls but if they start calling ticky tack fouls. We'll see but the Pacers probably could have been called for more fouls than they had been. I believe the Knicks got away with a few too but I think the refs letting them play physical benefits the Pacers because they consistently play physical.
