- I absolutely love his aggresiveness. The fake punt call was brilliant (and yes I would have thought so even if it wasn't executed properly). He tried every way to give the team momentum. I even liked the going for it on 4 and 1 in the third on our side of the field. Alabama was gaining momentum with each play. We punt back to them or go for it and don't get it, they continue to roll either way. Going for it and possibly getting it was only chance to stay in game at that point IMO. BTW, if Simms wouldn't carrying the ball like a baby kangaroo he could've gotten it.

- Putting in Worley. I think Dooley had seen enough after Matt threw that short pass it seemed more at the LB than the receiver. He continues to stare down his targets and is inaccurate more than accurate on any throw, long or short. Staying with Simms, we may not even beat Vandy or KY. If Worley wouldn't showing them something in practice to show he could help us more, Dooley wouldn't have burned his RS. Getting to a bowl game is very important, and no doubt those chances are better with Worley, don't see how they could be any worse.

well i'm not saying that i disagree with putting worley in.... i think that playing for the future and saving his RS is less important than getting to a bowl and getting through this Bray injury

BUT... in terms of this thread.... how in the world can u possibly say there's "no doubt" we have a better chance with Worley and u haven't even seen him throw the ball yet?!?!?!?! if you're gonna make a thread u need to have good content, and saying stuff like that is just stupid when you haven't even seen him do anything but hand the ball off 3 times and sneak it once

Have no issue with either coaching decision. Going for it on fourth down at your own 40 is another matter. The risk/reward was just not there. Getting a first down there, you still have 60 yards to go and we haven't proved we could do that all night.

I agree on Whorley. Matt has not stepped up to this opportunity. It's time to move on.

14/37 186 yards and 3INTS.

Can't get much worse.

I argee with this post...would have like to see Worley in a bit sooner though. Now, I feel next week will be a competitive game, one that the Vols will win.

I think most people are assuming Worley will be better by Dooley's decision to burn his redshirt. He watches him practice every day. If he didn't think he would give us a better chance to win, he would just stick with Simms. Which he apparently isn't doing.

Ok tell me what Simms has shown to be able to win games, his decision making is horrid at this point. Hes not reading coverages and just hoping for someone to be open. It cant get any worse with Worley than with Simms

Agree with the gutsy fake punt, but I thought the 4th and 1 was a bad call. Why take the chance and give Bama a score that puts the game out of reach? Had to do something about Simms-- the guy's an absolute buzzkill. More times than not, I do not think playcalling is a strength.

like i said, i think that it was the correct decision to burn the RS b/c we need to do something to juice up the pass game and therefore we should def give him a shot... but all that Worley did was sneak once and hand the ball off 4 times, so i'm not ready to crown him the starter and savior of the offense either

Simms is the worst QB i have ever seen in my life.I just wish DD would of pulled him earlier.Worley is going to have to get some experience sooner or later.redshirt or no redshirt.DD just couldnt keep on playing Simms and knowing he brings nothing to the field.Im sure Worley is going to make mistakes and throw Ints but Id rather take my chances with him than watching Simms. Our WRs dont have any faith in Simms and it shows. If im not mistaken Worley can still redshirt next year.

Unless Worley had been looking completely out of his league, and I mean COMPLETELY out of his league, during practice, this is a move that had to be made. They can't go on without at least the threat of a competent passing game. Simms just isn't getting the job done. I don't think anyone feels that Nash Nance is the answer. Gotta ride with Worley now, at least until Bray can get back.

P.S. Get well SOON Bray!

Only way I see it Worley doing worse than what Simms is doing is if he handed the ball to the other team. Chaney seems afraid to even call a pass play with Simms, and with his completion percentage and INT's(not to mention shoulda been INT's) I would be too. At least with running it we MIGHT get a couple yards.

Dooley probably knows he's playing for the season at this point. He lets Simms get out of control and we could have another Wyoming on our hands. Put Worley out there, see if he can do anything and if not, well, we know where we stand with Simms and he'll always be ready to go right back out there if necessary. Worst case scenario is we have to pull Worley because of turnovers but it's not like he can be any less accurate than Simms is on an average basis.

If he can manage to lace his own shoes without drooling on his socks, and consistantly make it to the toilet without soiling himself, it's safe to say he gives us a better chance than Simms.

I imagine that Bray's injury will keep him out of the rest of the season. Knowing this and seeing the upcoming schedule Dooley set Simms up to take the beatings for a couple of weeks until they were comfortable with Worley. There was absolutely no up side in sending Worley out to start against either LSU or Bama. Most likely we get beat just as bad and his confidence is shot for the rest of the season. Instead bring him against Bama's second team and make a few passes getting the team excited and build a little momentum for the new kid going into USC, except Lane fumbled. This whole situation seems calculated to me. I feel a little bad for Simms though as he was sacrificed for a second year.

Dooley is the coach and he's not a bad coach. Firing Fulmer turned our program upside down. He is the guy to right the ship and he will. Give him time.

Good posts OP and every post seems to be totally rational up to this point. Totally agree.

I think this is Simms legacy...he took the beatings over the last 2 years to protect our young guns.

Hopefully he has life lessons learned that he can use when he gets his first coaching job.
