Just look at the schedule and the lack of talent on the roster. Every UT fan should truly prepare themselves emotionally for this reality: 2010 will prove to be the worst year in Tennessee football in decades. Dooley cannot be held responsible for this, but when he struggles to go .500 in 2011, that's when the patience of UT fans everywhere will be tested...especially if 7 straight losses to UF and 5 straight to Bama have occurred.

This is the new reality people....either prepare to deal with it and try to support the program through these dark days, or find something else to do. Seriously. It's gonna be tough.

This team would have been 4-8 with Kiffin too. He said himself he expected UT to take a step back after the Bowl loss.

Yeah, that should really make the recruits line up next year.

LK screwed us royal. W/O great recruiting we're lost.

you know, if he can turn around our recruiting class just a bit, we will be making progress. there is no telling for sure how we will do next year. i dont think we will be 4-8 though.

Tennessee was already the laughing stock and they just turned into one big giant circus. Hate the comments all you want but thanks God it's basketball season because I'll never be excited for football again.

Yep. Or worse.

Had you said this a week ago....we might have someone with some guts....of course you would have been flamed endlessly for doing so, and I doubt you really believe it then, anyway. Easy to say that now.

I said it about Kiffin and crew and I'll say it about the new guy. He will have to have some time to right the ship. 2011 is way too early for this kind of job (IMO). Kiffin set us back more than a couple years.

Nobody on the team gives a crap what you think. Your just another desk jockey with a ignorant opinion. Way to stay positive and support the team!

I can't wait to revisit some of these prediction posts in the coming years. The verdict is still out, but I predict he will be a success.

Well longer then a week ago..I said it on Jan 1

I say the Ducks take us behind the wood shed in a bad way

And we loose 8 games.

And read the flames..I was told to go find another team to pull for and I had a pathetic life etc! See how fans treat fans that are realistic!!

Yep.....Bump. And I stand by every prophetic word of it from 10 months ago. The bottom will come in November as UT goes 2-2 next month to finish 4-8, 1-7. The long road back begins in Jan.

But, honestly, I'm not sure this program will ever recover to the elite level it once enjoyed. At this point, just avoid becoming the Ole Miss of this generation and getting mired in mediocrity while yammering on about titles won a generation ago. This is a strong possibility at this point.

I'm not so sure about this. Given our resources, as several other programs have proven, we only need to get an excellent coach on the job, and things can pick up pretty quickly. However, if people are willing to tolerate 3-5 years of talentless recruiting classes and a string of losing seasons while we "give DD a chance", then we might be in pretty rough shape. The sooner we get a real coach, (and AD) the better.

It must be nice as a Bama fan to sit back and enjoy this, huh Duckhook?

14-20 in the last 34 games under a trilogy of head coaches certainly has laid a foundation of mediocrity with no real end of this direction in sight with our rivals holding their thumbs on us tight. I won't even bother posting the SEC record during this recent history stretch.

Dooley will likely improve to 6-6 the next 2 seasons, then get run out of town. The most important hire in program history will occur in Dec 2012. Get it right, there's a chance of recovery. Get it wrong, the program will likely never recover and become a lower tier SEC has-been. Facts.

At this point, it's really the sooner the better IMO. However, I'd rather DD keep the job and lose than let mike Hamilton hire another football coach. Hopefully we'll have a new AD in place by then who will show that UT is willing to pay in order to get the right coach here, rather than shopping for a bargain basement coach like they have the last 2 times. The Kiffin hire wasn't as bad considering the all-star staff that came with him. The Dooley hire on the other hand was different. It never really seemed like Hamilton was throwing around the kind of cash it takes to get a top coach here. I think if it had been made well known that UT was willing to pay top dollar, things might have worked out differently. I'd rather DD keep the job and lose than let mike Hamilton hire another football coach.
