Volnation,

1. We are 2 - 5. Pre-season most agreed we could play good football (and often we have for a half) and still be 2 - 6 come November. We are on course with expectations.

2. I've been a lot worse this time around (none of us are accustomed to new coaches at TN) regarding being critical of coaches this early in their tenure. Dooley and co only deserve to be judged based on their performance in November this year.

3. My hope was to win out in November; if they do, it will heap credit on this staff and team. I no longer expect it though. It will be a game-by-game approach as they come and how we perform.

4. I am concerned now about the Big 3 now, I will admit. I've been unhappy with Chaney and the offensive identity since the beginning. I'm concerned about Wilcox, especially regarding the secondary (did no one think to tell JJ to cheat towards JJ?). Dooley excites me in so many ways, but when I watch his pressers and his body language, I just get the feeling of a guy with "deer-in-the-headlights." He'd better be out-evaluating everybody by a mile to judge from our recruiting rankings right now.

5. Depth is a huge problem, although I don't know if depth can be blamed for running roughshod over us at the beginning of the third quarter. I can't even blame Kiffin anymore - he's just a lacklustre coach with a greatly overpriced recruiting reputation. It's all on Hambone for the attrition - Kiffin did exactly what anyone with a squirrel's brain knew he was going to do.

The situation is such at Tennessee right now where the players and coaches have to have perfect game. A couple bad plays get magnified on a bad team. A couple of bad calls get magnified on a bad team. It's a mess, period.

November will probably be no better than 2-2. So judge away, but what does it really matter?

With #5, I agree with. Depth was not the problem last night, coaching and play calling got us in the position last night and bama capitalized. Say what you want about Kiffin being a lackluster coach, but he is a better x's and o's coach than Dooley or Chaney could ever hope to be. Hope for 4-8

I was hoping for 6 - 6. But only in my Kool-Aid drunken heart right now do I expect us to go unbeaten in November.

4-8 seems likely unless this team comes out like gangbusters next week and actually plays in the 2nd half.

6-6 was what I hoped for pre-season and that's still my hope. We will most likely be 2-6 after next weekend. However, if Schofield and Hughes are back close to 100% after next weekend I think we can win out. I'm not saying that I necessarily think we will, but it is possible.

We've gotten our butts kicked quite a bit this year. Hopefully our guys are learning... and can use those lessons in the soft part of our schedule.

2-10 this season...maybe 6-6 next. With all the talent we have coming in I can see 8 wins by 2012

I'll go with 3-9, maybe we beat memphis. It really depends on what type of play calling we have from here on out. I really can't understand why Poole isn't touching the ball more. What happened to a back that can carry the ball 22+ times and really carry the offense? From what Poole has shown so far I feel could take us to the next level. (which isn't much better than we are, but maybe we score more than 20)

the current offense being run isn't designed for it. i think it's pretty obvious by now that chaney will stick with the pass rathar than the run most of the time.

Worst 2 -5 team I've seen. We are lucky we're not 1-6 instead. If you think that's negative, then obviously you're not watching the same game as I. Been a fan since The Doug Dickey days, and this is absolutely the worst.......even the 0 - 6 team.Usually when something goes wrong, it's a combination, and not one thing. I think that's what our problem is. Do we have a good coaching staff? I don't know. MSU, and AU are doing pretty good with thier new coaches though. Just saying.

But Kiffin just straight up drilled us. He was an overrated recruiter, and he didn't try to keep any of the kids we could really use right now.

But Kiffin just straight up drilled us. He was an overrated recruiter, and he didn't try to keep any of the kids we could really use right now.

He was hauling in a top 5 class prior to leaving and he signed the #1 class at USC. He's been the recruiting coordinator for several top 3 classes. The kids he thought we could use, he kept. The others he let move on to places better suited to their abilities. Those places ended up being Louisiana Tech, UTC, Tennessee Tech, MTSU, etc.

What is drilling us is the fact that two pieced together recruiting classes are outperforming the juniors and seniors Phil brought onboard for us.
