Wow, the 2.4 million isn't his base salary. That's after the TV show, endorsements, and other things that have been worked into the contract. At least, that's what I gather.

Only about 5 coaches have salaries that high. This is with bonuses and incentives like all other coaches. Kiffin I believe was at 400k and then bonuses totaled 2mil. Spurier only makes 300k with bonuses and incentives totaling 3mil. The thing is most times 80% of this gets paid bonuses and incentives are usually not that far out of reach. Just looke at montes he only had to stay a few days xtra to get his longevity bonus.

it was a joke dude; another way of saying there's no way leach is getting a college job anytime soon; the fact that you even bring up leach's name is stupid; sure, i like leach too, but he's done some harm to himself big time

correction, you brought up Leach's name. maybe you should re-read your post

They had to pay Dooley between 2-3 mil to hire him. The dooley name carries a lot of weight in the SEC.

Underwater welders make alot of money... pilots make alot of money... CEO's make alot of money...

When you have a high risk job, you pay more to get it done even when the actual task doesn't seem to warrant it.

Most of you look at this as if it is a definite career enhancing move for Dooley. It could easily be the end of his career as a HC.

Keep in mind-

-Saban and Meyer BOTH make close to $4 mill a year.
-Les Miles makes $3.75 mill
-Mark Rict makes $3 mill +
-Petrino and Houston Nutt make something like $2.5 - $2.8

I would be willing to bet that $2.4 (if thats' correct) would be the average HC salary for the SEC, or pretty close

I could care less what we pay these guys..... What I care about is winning games. To win games you have to pay for it. We keep going this route and we are going to keep getting the same results.

I think Dooley has a chance to be a good coach here. I really do. I am going to give him a chance. But to win in this leauge you have to have the best. Dooley isn't the best.... at least he hasn't proven that. But I am not getting my hopes up....

No doubt... Dooley, the former lawyer, is a great businessman. At LA Tech, he had the makings of a great coach, but his best moments were as AD!

If everyone remembers correctly Kiffin made a deal with MH and took less money so he could have more money to spend on his coaching staff. Also if you look at each coaches contracts...Fulmer and Kiffin around $600 of the contract is the base salary for coaching. The rest of the money comes from endorsements and TV deals. With this comes appearences for the VOLS and all the promotions that you see on the jumbotron and in the media guide. Boosters also play a big part in this. I feel like we will be happy with the contract when all is said and done. Also look at it this way, the VolNation can say look at how much you are being paid, you had better produce or we will be looking for someone else in 3 years.

$2.4 mil is the minimum for big time programs these days. If he wins 9-10 games, he'll be looking for a raise to $3 mil minimum.
