So, if I’m paying $170+ for my wife and I to have dinner at Ruth’s Chris, I expect my 10oz filet to be prepared the way I order it. I have NO problem having it sent back if it’s not to my liking. I don’t hold Outback to the same standard.

Why? Because you get what you pay for!!!
Therefore, I expect our new silver spoon fed AD to stop whining about leaks and skepticism from fans. GROW UP man! You are going to get eaten alive if you don’t! You will be held to a high standard.....around $2,000,000 worth every year.

(added this after 8 pages of arguing...... IF we doubled the salary of our head coach, like we just did for our new AD, then you would ALL have higher expectations from the coach, right? If Heupel was getting 8mil a year we would have higher standards than “aight”).

I get your point, but I also understand where he’s coming from. If he’s out there trying to find and negotiate new contracts with coaches, leaks can derail or even increase the cost of obtaining a coach.

On a another note how much better is that Ruth’s Chris steak compared to Outback’s?

Amen BuP --- Railing on a large portion of the fan base after being on the job for less than a week is not a good look. I went to my first UT football game when I was 4 years old which was over 47 years ago. I don't need some "fresh off the boat" AD trying to dictate to me what a TN fan should or should not do. The whole "you will take what we give you, and be happy" schtick is old and tired.

The whole control the message thing is a bunch of garbage.

I think he was more targeting people inside athletics that was leaking information to the press.

Our administration is ordering express steaks while our rivals are eating Ruth’s Chris.

I understand that he wants things to be hush-hush, and they were right up to the point of no return. I understand that everyone is walking around on eggshells, nervous, frustrated, fed up, and pretty much every other emotion in the book. I get it! The bottom line is that he has already had a few major missteps and I just expect more from one of the highest paid athletic directors in the entire country.

Normally, I would agree with you. The only problem here is that nobody knew what was going on. This whole process has been pretty tightlipped up until the very end. In OUR situation, this train could not be derailed. It’s already been derailed, has trees and brush growing through it, is 90% rusted, and it’s leaking chemical waste into the nearby streams.

But, on a more fun note, there’s no comparison. If you haven’t been to Ruth’s Chris lately you should go. Just make sure they don’t stick you in that bottom level dining room. And ask for vanilla bean ice cream on top of your sweet potato casserole.

Leaks create discourse and mistrust. He’s talking to those people indirectly because he doesn’t know where they come from. Fans being negative is another story, I commend him for trying and it shows that he pys attention and acknowledges unhappiness it’s just going to fall on deaf ears to the “told ya so” crowd. I’m just as guilty as the next guy (sorry Nancy) but Im trying to be better

The difference is you paid for the steak and are considered the customer.

The AD considers the school his customer. You aren't necessarily a thought of his. You have zero bearing on his job.

Tough pill to swallow but the truth.

So, can you name me one SEC football hire that has ever been 100 percent surprise all the way up until the press conference? Just one. All I need is one example. I’m not asking for much. There have been hundreds of hires in your lifetime, so just give me one example that backs up what you’re trying to say.

Didn't he mention wanting to address both teams first before they found out through social media? I call that being respectful.

Unfortunately, I completely disagree. Without fans supporting our program, our brand, that nice fat little comfortable pocketbook they all keep dipping into, and everything that he gets to enjoy as an athletic director....is gone. If you don’t think the fans are the customer, his customer, you need to wake up.

Why did this seem like a good idea to you??

Of course, but again, tell me one SEC football head coach hire that has not leaked. Just one. When the A.D. says the fans have failed at his second press conference then he’s just completely tone deaf to what we’ve been through for the last 20 years. And back to my original point, if he was making four or $500,000 a year I probably would not hold him to this high of a standard. But, he literally is one of the top five highest paid athletic directors in the entire country.

Because our world does not hold people accountable. To whom much is given, much as required. For a brand new athletic director to stand up at his second press conference and belittle the fans, tell fans they have failed, and act like a spoiled brat is just overall tone deaf. I expect more from one of the top five highest paid athletic directors in the entire country.
