2-0, but a wasted opportunity in Week 2

Why don't you educate me? I'm serious. In what way did we play so badly today? Please be specific.

Inconsistent QB play, multiple dropped passes, zero pass rush, no push up the middle from the DT's, no work for Bituli at MLB, continued lack of adjustments to stop the same play - all against a woefully talented team.

Your lack of attention to the talent level of the competition (or refusal to acknowledge) is the issue, not me.

Turnovers. Little to no pass rush. Poor tackling at times. Defense getting burned along the edge. OL not blowing open the holes they should. Bad throws. DL lining up off the LOS yet again.

The win was good. Nonody will dispute that. Its just that we should be better. More dominant. Especially when there is such a gargantuan talent gap between the 2 teams.

Agreed... I saw this as a loss in the grand scheme of things

Dormady had a 72% (13/18) completion pct today. QB play was fine.

As far as your defense complaints, how do you square that with the fact that they only scored 7 points?

Hey man, we get it. You think all is well. Several of us see larger issues that weren't resolved against a very poor football team. Agree to disagree at this point might be the best option.

I guess I should also say, I don't think all is well. Far from it, in fact. Our defense is questionable, and it has been for quite some time. My main point is that today we looked better than I think you're giving credit for, that's all.

That's fair, but I am beyond frustrated with Butch's teams. We just aren't meeting expectations and I extrapolate tonights performance over the course of the season an see yet another mediocre season.

I realize that there are many who disagree, and that is fine; but the evidence thus far during his tenure is telling.

We had no real pass rush because we blitzed 0 times. And for good reason. There was no point in blitzing them..we didn't need to. No point in showing UF our blitz packages. You will see a different D next week. If the game even happens

Right there with you on that. I don't think we will ever consistently contend for SEC titles while CBJ is there.

We get it. There's about one or two dozen Vol "fans" that aren't going to be happy with any outcome of a game. It's funny when the same 10 posters run around yanking each others wankers to make themselves feel better.

For the record, I don't think everything was perfect in this game but the keyword here is GAME. It is a child's game played for the entertainment of adults. If you are this miserable over a game I might suggest a new hobby.

At this point, I would settle for simply beating the teams we should beat. We can't even do that (see USCe and Vandy).

I happen to disagree with OP on his assessment of today, but this isn't a strong argument, imo. Saying he's wrong because the subject matter isn't important is pretty weak logic.

It is only Week 2, and our Vols are 2-0, but today was an opportunity to build some confidence, solve some basic issues, and allow back-ups some experience.
Unfortunately, we ended up doing largely none of that.

Dormady is the clear starter, and it isn't even close. Yet, here comes JG in the 1st qtr for a couple pointless series that completely wasted much needed time to improve the passing game. Listen, JG deserves to play, but when it makes sense for the team. He shouldn't have stepped foot onto that field until QD hit some of those downfield passes that he missed early. He needed the game experience and deserved the first half to be his.

The defense was OK, and I am probably being charitable. What should terrify all of us is that we got ZERO pass rush on their QB. Indiana State is a bad football team, and we did very little to move them on the D-line. This will get ugly in SEC play and quality SEC QB's will pick us apart if we can't develop a serviceable line and pass rush. And how many times did we get beat on the Jet Sweep?

Luckily Florida is a bad football team on offense, so we can definitely beat them. I just hope we start to develop some sense of an identity on both sides of the ball. Tonight was an opportunity to do that. Unfortunately, we wasted it.

1. I am trying to remember a post of yours where you weren't *****ing, moaning, or criticisizing. I'm coming up empty. You must be one miserable SOB.

2. We won by four touchdowns playing a huge number of unproven players--getting them valuable reps.

3. JG got some very good reps in case something should happen to QD.

4. We got some rest to our starters and we didn't show too much to the Gators.

5. Did I mention we won by four touchdowns? Did I touch on how miserable your azz seems to be? Change your avatar you sorry miserable hateful being.
