Outrecruiting UGA and Florida considering the talent pools in their respective states is HUGE. 3 to 4 years from now, it will be hard to argue we don't have the talent to finish at the top of the SEC East.

Unfortunately, we play THAT team in the west every year, and that gives the East teams a game up on us before we play them.

With Florida being the 4th best team in Florida, I guess they have to start selling the "We play in the SEC though" pitch.

So does Florida this year

The game (though they have a bye week) before they play us, in fact. We have a bye then Georgia before we play them.

Then they play LSU after us and we play Chattanooga.

I think the surrounding schedule is overall in our favor by a significant amount. Not that Georgia is a pushover by any means but Georgia/Chattanooga is much better than Bama/LSU.

And it's at home.

With the talent in GA & FLA compared to TN they should kick our tail each & every year, yet they don't. With the talent level soaring in TN it looks even better for us. The Nashville area has exploded. I think all our in-state signees yesterday except Mosley & Kelly were from middle Tennessee. UT should rule our state as we did yesterday & so should GA since all they have to compete with in state is GT & the 2 GSUs, which are new to D1. UGA has failed miserably for years in keeping their in state talent in Athens & with all the competition UF has down there, they have to win their share & more just to keep up. I think the future on Rocky Top is looking pretty good!!

Agreed! Beat them in Recruiting first before you can have a good shot to beat them on the field.

First in the East is remarkable considering that we've finished the previous 3 seasons sub .500. The future is bright on Rocky Top!

It's a damn good start, and Oskie be damned, that's more than Dooley ever gave us. The first step to where we want to be is being first in the East. The first step to that is winning on the recruiting trail. Good job, Butch!

Gotta give credit when due, butch did an excellent job on the trail.

Question for you guys

With our class this year it put us around 3 over the max number allowed. Curious as to what your numbers are now and how many you plan on taking next year after signing so many guys this year. Thanks

3 to 4 years? If we continue to recruit like this over the next couple of classes, it will not take that long. More like 1 to 2 years. That will put Butch in his 3rd and 4th seasons.

But if we can't beat that team in te regular season then we shouldn't be in the SEC title game anyway

Saban wont be there much longer but that series has been streaky for as long as I have been watching the 3rd Sat in October. They are about due for another round of probation that Ala is notorious for. I know Ala fans were thinking the same thing we are now when Peyton started the streak. Just hope ours starts sooner than later. Only rival we haven't been able to get a long winning streak against is UF. And many times we had the better teams but for some reason we have struggled winning one muchless several since Spurrier took over and we started playing them yearly. Our time is coming soon, I have faith in CBJ!

Honestly it doesn't. If we beat all the East teams then it wouldn't matter as long as another west team didn't beat us..But we will get back to winning our share of those games.

This is encouraging. Is the Nashville area really growing that fast? I hope so. It' s been a long time since i lived in Tennessee.

We have been at a recruiting disadvantage as long as I can remember due to the dearth of in state talent. Give CBJ a halfway decent in state talent base to start with and I believe he does great things.

I think we have a legitimate shot at upsetting the cheatin' ass Gators this year. Just a hunch.

Nashville and the surrounding areas are booming. Nashville is running out of ghetto.

Just out of curiosity, what has led you to believe Saban isn't going to be in Bama much longer?
