1st Down Tennessee

Heck man, I'd wear a freakin kilt if it meant every American gal within hearing range would swoon for me. Liam Neeson is one broken-nose, butt-ugly fella, but he opens his mouth and every female in my house, including the dang cat, is mesmerized.

According to rumors on the net.. The ladies could care less about his voice

By the time we start clapping they'll be done with their next play. Too drawn out. Nice try Butch but this is one of your worst ideas.

People are on their high horse about this. Its a chant so what? There's chants in football games. Big deal. Don't see how it's dumb.

You have to be on a High Horse to condemn others for being on a High Horse ya know.

Something from the maxims would be cool, like...
"Carry the fight!" or "More steam!"

I think I even prefer a simple "Go Vols!" in that first down spot over Rocky Top.

Speaking of Maxims are they still going to have the fans recite them before every game? Seems like I remember this from the Orange and White game...

I will yell Rocky Top, and will have now problem with it at all. I do remember a time when we celebrated TDs with a high five, then we started high fiveing field goals, then 1st downs. I will sing Rocky Top with the woo. I will yell when OU has the ball while stomping my feet. I will yell "MUFF" when OU is fielding a punt(maybe we won't punt). After a 3rd down stop I will yell "way to shut em down defense". After we sack their QB I will yell "quarter back sack". When we kickoff I will yell "ahhhhh......ohhhh.......TENNESSEE".
I will have a clear poncho in case or rain as to not to jack up the checkerboard.
GO VOLS! WIN em ALL!

I mean, I'm not against it. It just seems kinda boring. After a first down, I'd rather just be going wild about the play that got us there. I think a strong, constant roar is more intimidating than people saying "Rocky... top!!" once after a play.

Just because people don't like the idea doesn't mean they think they're too cool. We have these silly things called opinions and reasons behind those opinions.

Been attending games since the late 60's. There have always been game attendees that remained silent. You could not get them excited. Seemingly these fans did not understand their privilege to attend a Tennessee game, and the chance to scream and shout for your team; the oldest land grant university in the nation. (1794) Moreover, did these mute observers understand how great it was to be a Tennessean? Maybe, but their lack of zeal and failure to participate took the spot of another Tennessee follower who could have done his or her part. This is the greatest state in the land, with the greatest people, even the silent ones. Show your state pride and love for the state of Tennessee. If you attend, let the Sooners know you were there. Ask yourself why are there seats in this temple of football? Sit down? Never! shut up? Never! Leave early? Win or lose never leave early! If Butch wants Rocky Top, give it to him.

Can't see this catching on, but maybe it will.

We can't even get everyone to chant V-O-L-S with the correct cadence.
