Fulmer-out of coaching
Cutcliffe - HC at Duke
Sanders - Kentucky
Chavis - DC LSU
Brooks - Clemson
Caldwell - Arkansas

Can't for the life of me think of who the O-line, WR's and DB's coaches were. Pretty sure that Slade wasn't there until the next year.

Does the 98 staff fit the "all-star" staff lingo that some posters and "he who should not be named" love to rave about?

In the 1990s, pretty much any talent that went into the SEC was going to Florida or UT. When other schools started to rise up, that scenario changed and UT was forced into the position of taking lesser players and slower-developing players, thus increasing the need for better coaches.

Mark Bradley: fired (can't remember what year, but it was probably the early 2000's)

Kevin Ramsey: UGA hired him as DC; I think he only lasted one year there.

Pat Washington: fired after 2005 season along with Jimmy Ray Stephens; I think he might have ended up at Kansas State?

Mike Barry: accepted a job in at ND and told Fulmer where to go; when the ND job fell through, Fulmer took him back. In 2001, Barry and Marrone both coached OL. Barry left after 2001; not sure where he ended up immediately after that. He coached in the NFL for a while before retiring.

So if I follow you correctly; No, these aren't "all-star" coaches as the phrase goes for some folks (not me).

And the second part of your logic is that in 1998, they didn't have to be "all-star" coaches due to talent level.

I do agree with you that Tn and Fl were the only games in town in the mid 90's.

Now, I would like to know what you think of our current staff.

:)
