This year we had doubts but I still thought we could pull it out. We have won 9/10 meetings and our offense was already suspect plus bama was number 5 and undefeated.

However, 1990 was the reverse. UT was ranked number 3 in the country with All-americans Antone Davis, Dale Carter, and Carl Pickens. We have lost to bama 4 years in row and this was our year. Bama was 2-3 entering the game and Stallings first year as coach.

We had one of the most prolific offenses in the coutnry. To see UT attempt field goal blocked and we lose 9-6 was probably the sickest feeling i ever had and it still sticks to me to this day. Nothing could be as worst as 1990 although this year is pretty close.

I rate them as about equal. We should've, would've, could've had both of them, and blew both of them driving for the winning points, only to see bammer kick a fg in the end.

Imagine how we Tide fans felt 2 years ago when all we had to do was stop TN on 4th and 19!!! Talk about Sick! I guess that's the story of this series...lots of heart breakers..

Wasn't Fulmer the OC in 1990? Talk about conservative! One of the reasons that UT's offense stinks is that Fulmer is pretty much clueless about offensive football himself. I agree that was one of UT's worst losses EVER!

I wish I could remember which year it was when Gene Stallings was the coach and we were ahead. Stallings used EXCELLENT clock management to get the Tide in place for a field goal, which of course, they hit. I was so mad that day because it seemed like they stopped that dadgum clock about 20 times and there were only SECONDS left on the clock.

Ah well.

Memories. Some good, some not so good.

We beat Florida and Steve Spurrier 45-3 in 1990. We scored 40 points in one game, 41 in another, 42 in another, 45 in the Florida game, 49 in another, 55 in another and 56 in another

We averaged almost 36 points a game in 1990.

I would LOVE to have 1990's offense.....except for the Bama game, of course.
