I don't think anyone thought we had a chance in hell to win that year.

Alabama was #2 in the country and had annihilated # 3 Penn State the week before.

On a side note that Penn State team ended up winning the National Championship.

On the other hand we started the season with a loss to Duke and ended the regular season with a loss to Vandy.

Also we lost to a mediocre Georgia Tech the very next week after the huge upset over Alabama.

I was at the game, 18, senior in HS, went with my dad. We bought scalped tickets outside for $75 bucks a piece that were on the 50 yard line, never had better seats in Neyland.
My Uncle was working as the Head Chef at the Hungarian Pavilion at the Worlds Fair and had the best Chicken Paprikash after the game.

There's a bunch of 1991 HS graduates in this thread. (born in 73) So, you probably remember your favorite Vols like Alan Cockrell, Reggie White, Willie Gault, Johnny Jones. and a couple of others. But I bet in 1985, you could actually start to name every player on the team from Victor Peppers, to Eric Swanson to Pete Panuska.
