'18 TN RB Master Teague

That sentence in bold sums it up. Dixon and Grant right now are just a s good if not better backs and I bet the RB board up in the coaches office reflects that. We are recruiting Volunteers to give their all and you don't have to have play for a TN high school to do that.

I agree that I don't think Teague is an "elite" back. I'd put him in that next tier of backs along with Dixon (who is difficult to compare because he's a very different back). But I'm not sure Grant is just as good as Teague. Grant is arguably not even the best back on his team right now.

I know that sounds like me dogging him, but I don't mean it that badly. I think he's a solid pickup as a second RB. But he's not in that same tier as Dixon and Teague.

This makes us look like a 2nd rate program. "Hey good luck never playing there cause you're not good enough. When you could've come here and played cause we're not as good."

If they're good enough to play here then I want them to be good enough to play anywhere. You don't build a championship program by fielding a roster of kids that aren't good enough to play for championship programs.

I agree very low post by Bucksnort

Agenda Ron. Your facts don't fit it. I don't think there is a single sunshine pumper that hasn't admitted that we have had grow g pains with Butch. We just also see how the team and culture have dramatically improved under Butch as well. As the talent level improves, there are gonna be more kids that leave the state the we will have wanted at UT. Just have to get used to the fact that the big schools are coming after UT kids now.

Grant is actually ranked higher than Teague in the 247 composite (21 to 25) but ok. Remember I said similar not better.

I agree with this assessment Darth. My issue with Dixon is he looks to lack explosiveness on film and is always tackled from behind when he gets to ooen field or pushed out of bounds. None of these 3 are of chandler status but more hit or miss type of guys. Of the 3 MT had the better skillset you want in speed and vision. The fact that tOSU took him should say enough. Not everyday a mid tn kid is a take for them. Guys soeaking on the 3* rating of MT, thats strictly because he is very selective on camps he went to and then focusedon individual training with Beasley in M'boro.

Guess what it doesn't because those kids are close to me and I've talked UT to them. I've taken Litaker to UT. I've talked to Jordan Davis about UT. So try again because you're lil jerk comments aren't funny or true. I can't help you and many other can't understand that all instate kids don't want to or won't go to UT and can be elite where ever they go.

lol at you calling somebody's comments "jerk comments".

Thought the same about Dixon film.

How high up was it? It being down is relative to how high it was. Let me keep it simple. Everyone plays cupcakes so why bring it into the discussion. Do you sincerely think the Big 10 is better than the SEC right now? Players drafted and rankings show differently even if last year the league was not on as high a perch last year, it was still higher than that weak sauce conference.

Key context word: Was. The cupcakes were in the discussion because others were bringing up tOSU schedule and non-conference schedule. I know all play em ala Alabama playing APSU & UTC. Just some hv dbl standards and bias. Ijs SEC is a 1 team league right now, and the rest are avg at best. Ppl get carried away with bowl games etc. The BIG10 had 3 legit contenders SEC 1 ACC 2. We waste time with a conference championship in the SEC. The SECE is crap. These are factual numbers not my opinion. Was doesn't count in 2016, 17 and beyond if it did UT would still recruit the elite of the elite. That's my only point. Oh i almost forgot your rankings statement. Rankings are a joke and as a UT fan you should know that. Did you forget the preseason ranking then the loses and how they kept leaving them out vs putting them bk in the top 25 after dominating a few lil brother teams? Exactly , when was the last time a team in the SECE won a game vs a top 10 opponent?

De1 is a joke....thinks he a scout just because he cuts everyones hair.

you mad because i have more than 1 job and you know of both but only speak on 1. Your a tre champion SKV. Don't take life so serious.

Players saw us choke versus Oklahoma and Florida the year before. So it looks like Jones can't win a big game. Then to lose to SCAR and Vandy just hammered home a mediocre thought process. Plus we don't drop 50-60 points on small teams. Struggling with Appy State wasn't a good look. P5 powerhouse schools SMASH little teams. Why don't we? In a prospect's mind the reason is Jones. They've seen the high rated classes so they look at it like he doesn't know what to do with talent. And again I ask the question, can you legitimately argue with them at this point? Other schools 5 stars dominate and early our guys are "meh" at best.

FL was a choke. I wouldn't take away the fact that OU had a future Heisman candidate at QB who made some unreal plays that game.

However, you've stated yourself that when losing pretty much your entire starting DL in addition to other key defensive players (Sutton, JRM, etc.), it would be difficult to play against anyone. But, now, you are dogging us for losing those games? Pick a side, please.

I don't think people are taking scheduling into consideration as much as they should. The month of October is grueling for UT every year. Three massive games in a row each year. That can and does take a lot out of a team down the stretch. tOSU and Clemson don't have to worry about that.

You have to play the hand you're dealt. Its that simple. This didn't matter in the 90s. Coaches have to coach and players just have to play.

If Ohio state wants him, he's elite. That's that.

Ohio State never misses. They hit on 100% on every recruit. Just because Ohio State wants him doesn't guarantee Elite status.

He may turn out to be the next great college back but he could also just as easily fall behind all the other backs on the roster and transfer to a juco and back to another P5 team that has a better situation. I think Kamara did that if I'm not mistaken.

The sec is the best conference by a wide margin. An average recruiting class in the sec is 14th in the nation. Average in the big ten is 50th. There is no close 2nd. You can dismiss the sec east but Tennessee would win the sorry big ten division every year, they can name their score v Iowa, nw, due, Indi, Neb. Wisc is ok. The sec is on an entirely different level. Vt nearly beat Clemson for the acc title, Tennessee played poorly and beat the **** out of them. The acc stinks. The big 12 is glorified high school. The pac 12 is decent.....offensively.

They don't miss too often on pure talent, guys fail for different reasons but if Ohio state wants a guy at RB, specifically, he's got elite ability. They take 2 and have their pick.

Not exactly what happened with Kamara, who was elite too.

The scheduling argument wasn't a recruiting one. It was a more justification as to why Jones hasn't reached the CFB playoffs.

As for Teague, or any elite recruit, I see both sides of the argument. However, if getting to the NFL is the biggest priority for some of the kids, potential to see the field early and often would be a big sell. I don't think it will be as easy for Teague at tOSU as it would be at UT. It's unfortunate that getting RBs to the NFL is an argument against Jones due to Kamara's success in addition to dealing with the quitter who likely would have been drafted.. All signs point to John Kelly getting drafted, too.
