'18 TN DL Greg Emerson (UT commit 7/3/17)

Isn't this Emerson on the far right?

If so, I think I know what his tell is.

From The Opening

Jackson (Tenn.) North Side four-star defensive lineman Greg Emerson can work inside or outside. At this point in his development, he comes off as a strong-side defensive end in a 3-4 scheme who is easily capable of sliding inside. He performed well and moves very well for his size.

Because Shoop runs a 4-3 scheme he's not coming to UT now?

Wow. Glad those guys at The Opening are there to decide his best fit.

In his case, I'm not buying the whole 'best fit' thing.. If he's as athletic as has been stated on here he do well in either system..

A DE in a 3-4 that can slide inside? Sounds like he is just a great prospect with the ability to do anything besides being a undersized speed rusher.

Would love an oversized SDE. I wouldn't hate using a base 4-2-5 if our personal got bigger across the board.

I just have a hard time imagining us slowing down Bama using small ends and linebackers. That is why I can't wait to see what guys like Austin Smith, Bituli, Butler, and Ignont can do.

Emerson messed his ankle up bad at the opening. Prayers for the young man.

Per Barton Simmons from twitter
Emerson went down after planting wrong. Foot pointed in the wrong direction. Just a nasty injury.

I've got the injury rep for Emerson on film but gonna pass on tweeting it. Was ugly.

If I was him I would just sit out the upcoming season and get ready and be all the way healthy for us next season .

If it is a dislocated ankle, what's the recovery process look like for that?

Really depends on ligament and tendon damage. Considering the foot was turned I wouldn't be surprised if the damage is extensive. Broken bones would likly have been better considering the better blood supply to bone.

That is terrible for him. Hopefully not a career ending type thing and he can rehab for next year when he's a vol.
