'18 GA S Trevon Flowers (Tennessee signee)

Uk is out. Hopefully we win with the longer established relationship.

Did butch have a safetys and corners position coach, or was it just the secondary coach?

Only one. The reason Pruitt will have this setup is because of the new extra coach. But both of the DB coaches we have now are better and more accomplished than anybody Butch had.

So you guys think a kid that decides in his senior year of high school that "hey, why not play a year of football" would be happy with the grueling schedules and workouts ?

He already said it was difficult to do...Most football players are 100% in and would eat the dirt they play on....

Would be taking a big chance on this one....two sport is fine but not playing football until his senior year just for the fun of it throws up all kinds of red flags...

the vols seem to be in good shape with three-star safety trevon flowers of tucker (ga.) high school coming out of the weekend. The kentucky baseball signee has been one of the most intriguing prospects on tennessee’s board over the past few weeks, but complications related to his signed baseball paperwork with the wildcats prevented him from visiting the vols until last week. An offer from clemson convinced him to take a midweek visit with the tigers before traveling to knoxville, and clemson now appears to be tennessee’s primary competition. But sources said the vols felt good about their chances of landing flowers coming out of the weekend. He has emerged as a high priority for both tennessee and clemson.

pretty sure it was just a DBs coach, although Shoop was supposed to be a safety specialist.

To me it seems like we have a lot more coaches than what we had last year. and not just the 1 more, seems like we cover a lot more positions.

There actually just one more on staff, but you're right we have a lot more coaches.

Perfect Game rated him as a 9

“Potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect”

Would be a big get for the baseball team.

I talked to a coach at Tucker who was also a player there, and went on to UGA and did a stint in the NFL as Pract squad. He simply made it real plain. He said as you know we keep plenty of talent here. This kid came out after not playing since 8th grade and took the starters job and was elite level special. He went on to say the kid has really good speed and is an elite athlete. In the end he said he has the ability to be a very special player.

s trevon flowers
the pick: Tennessee. A kentucky baseball signee who played football as a senior for the first time since middle school, flowers has been one of the most intriguing players on tennessee’s board down the stretch. Clemson and the vols hosted him on official visits last week, and both teams seem optimistic about their chances. Tennessee was the first major program to give him an offer, and his comfort level with the vols’ staff could make them the choice.

Swan is it safe to say if Flowers was just a football player he’d probably be much higher rated as in a 4 star? His film and measurables are outstanding and scream true safety.

Not Ron but that seems to be the implication from his coaches. Especially since he didn't play hs football til his senior year.

Looks that way. To not play FB since middle school and steal a starting spot as a senior, on a good team, is pretty remarkable. Sounds like at the very least this kid is an elite athlete. Hope we sign him tomorrow and he balls out in Orange.

Tucker (Ga.) safety Trevon Flowers emerged late on the radar to shape into a battle between Clemson and Tennessee last week.

Flowers (5-11, 180), a former Kentucky baseball signee, took an official visit to Clemson from Wednesday through Friday – before which Dabo Swinney showed up at his school to convey an offer.

But that visit was followed by direct travel to Tennessee for his final official visit, and we have reason to believe that swung the pendulum decidedly in the Vols’ favor.

You might recall Flowers telling TigerIllustrated.com he felt Tennessee needed him more at defensive back.

That, combined with the fact Tennessee’s offer in December played such a huge role in compelling him to back out of his Kentucky letter-of-intent, pushed the Vols over the line.

How worried should we be here that he gets drafted and jumps? I get the feeling he wants to play football and go the college route but sometimes that money is hard to say no to.

I believe he is projected to go in the first nine rounds, so there should be some concern. That’s good money if he goes that early.

9th round bonuses in $140k range, 8th round $160k, 7th round $200k, 6th round $250k, 5th round $335k, 4th round $450k, 3rd round $634k. Then you get into serious money in the top 2 rounds.

Make it past his senior summer of baseball and he's a Vol until his Jr. year. Hard to say no to the $$$ unless you can project yourself as a higher draft choice later.

Tuesday thoughts – Flowers is a unique story. A baseball player who put on football gear as a high school senior for the first time since the 7th grade. His one year of play landed him an offer from Tennessee and Clemson in January. A crazy recruiting story for sure. Tennessee has pursued him hard the last three weeks, finally getting him to campus the last weekend. Flowers was impressed with the Vols from a football, baseball and academic standpoint. All indications are that Tennessee is positioned-well with Flowers heading into tomorrow's signing.
