im still a commit but right now, im unsure, walker said on his standing with alabama. i was looking forward to being coached by [jeremy] pruitt. That plays a big role in it.
georgia and auburn are the frontrunners to flip walker, but both florida and tennessee are firmly in the mix now, too. The top-100 prospect has visits lined to the three sec schools, with tennessee the current favorite to net his final visit over alabama on feb. 2 before national signing day.
Walker called florida his dream school on monday, but he spoke glowingly about a trio of tennessee staffers pruitt, defensive coordinator and former uga linebackers coach kevin sherrer and chris rumph, a former uf defensive assistant.
thats going to be big, walker said. they been recruiting me for a long, long time. I built a great relationship with pruitt. It wasnt as good as coach (derrick) ansley (at alabama) but it is great. Im very close to him.
walker added that he talks to pruitt every week and the vols are under serious consideration over the final month because of their new head coach and his connection with sherrer and rumph. Both assistants have long recruited the all-american linebacker, who has flashed his versatile skill-set this week in orlando as of the top performers during practice. Walker told volquest.com that sherrer has already seen him twice since taking over the dc role at tennessee.
as soon as he left for tennessee, i want to say he came and visited two times. Thats going to be big (for) them, walker said. coach rumph has been after me real, real hard, too. I had a couple in-home visits with him when he was at florida. after taking four official visits, walker is slated to make a final decision in february.
