'18 DT TN D'Andre Litaker

“I’m now starting to really get into this recruiting process on which school I want to go to, so I’m really seeing what I like at UT, and that’s the coaches, really,” said Litaker, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 210 overall prospect and No. 18 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class.

“I have a real good connection with the coaches. It’s just everything about UT. It’s great. I love it. When I was up there, my main focus was talking to Coach Hoke about seeing how he does things and seeing if I’m right for that program, basically.”

The 6-foot-2, 302-pound Litaker said he liked what he saw from Hoke and Tennessee’s defensive line during Saturday’s spring game.

“I really got to see what type of dude he is on the field and, really, off the field,” Litaker said. “He’s a great coach. They were short (on the defensive line), so I really didn’t get to see the best of the D-line. But the ones they had in, they were producing, (doing) what they have to do.”

Litaker said he talked with Hoke on Saturday about his improving grades, “and just how I’ve gone through a lot with my mom and with school.” Litaker’s mother was killed in a car accident in November.

“Really, we were just talking about how important I am to the 2018 class, just talking about my game,” Litaker said. “He’s just letting me know how important I am to him, basically.”

Jones delivered a similar message to Litaker during Saturday’s visit.

“He really wants me,” Litaker said. “He thinks it’s the right place for me. Also, we were talking just about my grades, how I’m improving, I’m really focused now, (and) my game, also. Basically, he’s just feeding me with knowledge, how important I am to him — not only as a player, but as an individual.”

Now focusing on his ongoing spring practice, along with his track-and-field schedule — he’s throwing shot put and discus for his high-school team — Litaker said his trip to Tennessee last weekend is “probably going to be my only visit for right now.” But he said he’s going to “try to visit a handful of schools” starting this summer “to really see if I like it or not.”

Another visitor from this past weekend that Tennessee continues to be in good shape with is DT D'Andre Litaker. There was some chatter last week that Litaker might pull the trigger, but that never happened. Litaker is getting close and we'd expect him to do something by the middle of next month. Tennessee continues to trend in the right direction for him.
