'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

Hey yall im exited to say this is my first post, although ive been reading volnation for years. Anyway, after watching this kids film i hope we land him. Personally i hope we can get him before Akers. I think Chandler has a more natural running style, and looks like a more traditional running back, hits the hole hard, and gets north and south. Do you guys think weve got a good shot at landing him still, or is it a toss up between us and other schools.

Welcome! Seems as if we have a decent shot with Chandler. I think as with a lot of these kids this year, many are taking a wait and see approach. I have no doubt these kids are being hammered by these opposing coaches that we'll be a constant 8-9 win team with little chance if reaching the championship level. Hopefully we'll make them look like the fools that they are this year. These guys do not want to see a resurgent Tennessee.

I think we'll get him. Other schools still in it, but he'll be a Vol.

I think we lead. I'd be surprised if he went elsewhere. Not shocked but I would definitely be surprised

Welcome to the board. I think Chandler and Akers are interchangeable at 1a and 1b for most folks. Others would say why not get both. Akers plays RB from the QB position at his school but has all the skills to be a great RB. Chandler is used more as a traditional RB at his school but kids often play out of position due to a HS not having all the pieces they need. I think we lead for Chandler based on my own gut feelings but I do think many kids are waiting to see a few games of this coming season to see how we look. It's gonna be a great football season and lots of talent is gonna wanna jump on board. Hold on to your butt. If this is your first season following recruiting, it gets a little bumpy sometimes. Kinda like riding in a car with square wheels.

Thanks guys for the responses to my post. I agree with yall, we need to have a successful season this year on the field to continue to get the high quality recruits we need to compete in the sec, lol i guess we cant always sell playing time. I do however, have a great feeling about this season hopfully we will sure up Chandler and some more to go along with him. GBO!!!

I'm amazed at how much trouble they are having getting an elite RB in the fold with how successful Hurd and Kamara have been in it and with the immediate PT they are going to have to sell next year. Just crazy their only two options seem to be Akers and Chandler at this point and most consider Akers leaning elsewhere.

Im a little concerned too. If somthing happens and we strike out on Chandler, I dont know who if anyone we have on our radar that would be as dynamic of a back as Akers and Chandler seem to be.

I was told a couple weeks ago by the mother of one of his friends that he's boys with Jashon Robertson and Hurd. I guess they all grew up in the same area. Not sure how close but shouldn't hurt.

Hurd has family that lives pretty close to Chandler.

I'd take that as a good sign they feel good about where they are with them two. Kids want to see us take it to next level before jumping in.

If we are only looking at adding say Chandler and Smith top target wise, waiting till closer to NSD would fit Butch's style with those commitments. Both commit now and 1-2 3* flips on NSD just doesn't offer the BOOM fans expect.
