'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

"The buzz near the end of the week has centered around running back Ty Chandler and a recent trip to Georgia. Some reports called Georgia his leader, but we don't believe that to be the case. In talking to some people since the visit, we believe Georgia did their best to get the Nashville native to commit, but Chandler was more than noncommittal.

We caught up with him on Thursday (Story to come) and he told us that he wants to take more trips and doesn't appear to be close to a decision. In fact, one person described his recruitment as "totally wide open." He plans on trips to Florida, Southern Cal, and Ohio State in the coming weeks and months. His comfort level is extremely high in Knoxville and liked the down to earth visit recently. We still believe that Tennessee is in good shape with a tough battle down the stretch."

I just dont see UGA in this race down the stretch. Not that we wouldn't take Chandler but it just appears that Carter and Swift are going to decide first and they are both trending to us ATM.

Chandler will be a Vol when the cards hit the table.

That's good for us I guess. GA always get's theirs.

People hoping Coleman commits elsewhere are making a mistake. Coleman is going to be a 4 star when it's all said and done, and if you remember fils-aime and kelly were right on the line to being 4 stars as well. I think you add Coleman and hopefully Chandler/Akers into the mix and we're gonna have a deep running back rotation full of both speed and power. Running backs IMO aren't like QBs, because a lot of high 3 star or low 4 star backs can turn into very good backs in college.

I think a lot of the talk of Coleman not sticking isn't that people don't think he can play and do well at UT, more along the idea that if LSU comes calling, LA kids almost always bail. It doesn't matter how late the offer comes, The recruit tends to stay instate.

This for sure. Butch better have a backup plan for this one.

That's fine and dandy, but we really need one of Akers and Chandler. They are elite prospects, and we will need to replace two elite players in Hurd and Kamara.

I'm amazed we don't have an elite RB in the fold already. Our two juniors are going to be drafted next spring, they've both put up extremely impressive numbers in this offense and we basically are going to have starter type minutes available in 2017 for any big-time incoming freshman that is an every down back type. And they'll also be running behind an OL that will return at least 4 starters...

Probably because elite RBs like to wait before they commit...at least history tells us so.

Except we had Hurd and Kamara committed before July in their classes. I do think the longer the higher prospects what this year it will help us.

I may be making a mistake but I view Chandler as a Vol. I think we've got at least one stud back in the fold. He's just going to be our closer to NSD Boom Butch likes to orchestrate.

I certainly hope so. There can't possibly be a better situation out there for elite RB's in this class.

Elite players usually like to wait or they are asked to prolong their recruitment by all star games etc. I could see Chandler being a guy that pulls trigger somewhere earlier than a guy like Akers

Hayden's recruitment has been odd, you have guys like Callahan saying we are no longer recruiting him, and other "analysts" say that he only wants to play RB thus we parted ways. Then the really strange scenario where it looked like he was set to commit to USCe then all goes quiet - and the cackalacky beat writer says he does not have a commitable offer.

You don't know that.

Ok.

Trey Coleman went public. Literally right after Hayden named USCe his leader. Anyone who follows recruiting knew what that meant.

I haven't given up on Chase to UT. If LSU swoops in to get Coleman, maybe Hayden gets a call. Hopefully he can forgive.

Not buying what you are selling bub. Long way to go to NSD.

We can take Chandler, Coleman and Hayden, then make room for Akers if he wants in. Ut needs RBs more than WRs... and if we're lucky enough to land all 4, the situ would work itself out.
