'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

What's sad is all the recruits his age and younger all think Bama has always been great.Makes me kinda sad that a Tn kid doesn't have a memory in his life time of us being great and winning big .

Kid loves Tenneseee and always says it's a family atmosphere everytime he walks on campus. Hears from Coach Strip and Butch Jones every day making him a top priority. Although he has admitted that he grew up an Alabama fan, the relationship with our coaches and staying close to home will be a major role in his decision. Alabama will put up a good fight though.

Are you speaking from information, or just speculating?

It stinks worse when it's a chief rival

Trey's older sister went to Knoxville and was an assistant for Pat Summitt. He gets coaching help from Artis Hicks and former Vol Trey Teague. Freeze came to see him last Friday, Dabo came yesterday, Brian Kelley is there today, and MS State & Ohio State are coming tomorrow. Kid has a lot of hype around him, but plays against inferior opponents. He needs to start hitting the camps against talented kids to see where he really stands.

He got invited to the opening last year as an underclassmen.

He went to Opening as a junior and showed out as one of the best OL regardless of age. I understand the inferior opponent angle with his division but it sounds like he belongs

Rusty always had former Vols on his staff at CAK. Any player he coached that was legit D1 material went to UT, if they wanted them. This is a great thing to happen in this recruitment!

WE could also have Jacksons favorite son go have a little talk with young Mr.Smith.I don't want it to come down to that though. It might scar the kid for life .Nothing like a 6.5 300 kid waking up crying because he's having night mares about the boogie man.

The first AD at CAK was Robey Phillips, who was a basketball star at Cleveland HS in the late 60s and went on to MTSU, then into a coaching and AD career in FL and TN. I am pretty sure he hired Rusty Bradley as HC at CAK.

Rusty is an excellent coach, and will do a great job at USJ.

Be wary of those measurables until he starts camping this summer. MaxPreps lists him as 6'6', but you never really know. The numbers are almost always fudged.
