'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

I don't root for random teams in the states in which I live. I root for my alma maters; which are UT and WKU. I didn't graduate from Clemson so I'm indifferent towards their success or failure. However, I do have friends from my time there, so I still follow the program in passing in order to talk about our respective games through the season.

It's hard to believe that someone attended multiple universities and has moved over the course of their career?

UT for undergrad 2004-07
Clemson for Grad school 2008-09
Transferred to WKU and finished my master's 2009-10.

Lived in FL 1985-2007
Bowling Green, KY 2007-2013
Columbia, TN 2013-present
Relocating to Athens, AL in a month

As you can see I attended all 3 schools mentioned and obtained degrees from 2 of them. I'm not attending the University of Alabama nor will I be living remotely close to Tuscaloosa. I lived in KY for 6 years and I managed to not root UK. I spent 22 years in FL and my family goes back 6 generations and I managed to not root for UF. Therefore, I fail to recognize the canyon you're trying to bridge here.

I think the results were similar against common opponents last year. Why wouldn't you think 50/50 based on that?

There were 3 common opponents.
The results were similar in 2.
Clemson played 5 top 15 teams and beat 4, ended 14-1.
Tennessee played 4 top 25 teams and beat 2, ended 10-4.
I watch both teams closely.
Last year, in my opinion, Clemson would beat Tennessee by about the margin they beat Oklahoma.

It is impossible to blow out a team that runs the ball and plays good defense. Hopefully you find out this year.

Arguing histories of programs is so pointless in this era. While I think history should matter, it's not hard to see that the vast majority of fans across the nation subscribe to the "what have you done for me now" mantra. Most of the time, if you bring up history people just give you sh*t and say you live in the past.

For example, I follow Clemson Tom on twitter, just for the lolz, and any time he talks about Tennessee he just mentions that they are a "cute little program with a passionate fanbase." This isn't just meant to be a callout (even though I think he is a total asshat) but he is the prime example of the large majority of CFB fans these days. It's all about how good have you been in the last couple of years. History doesn't matter any more, so trying to argue that with someone is like trying to win an argument with a brick wall. It's futile.

Clemson tom is garbage. I have to apologize every time he comes up. Everyone has them, he's just unfortunately one of the loudest. He definitely is not a representative of the majority of us.

WTF does that really mean? Exactly what makes that "moment" different if you and I THINK we know where he is going?

Why set up an announcement if someone else spoils it? Any more it's like a kid has to lie to avoid his decision going public before he gets to tell everyone where he's going.

Look at the Ross situation. He doesn't announce for about a week but the services just told us it's UNC.

I think announcements have gotten silly, but it's the kids choice if he wants that moment.

Oklahoma was in agreement with your position. It's been proven wrong. In consecutive years.

Except UT's total and scoring defense were both better than OU's in 2014 and 2015. I don't think we beat Clemson but I also don't think we lose by 20. Veneables knows that OU team better than anyone in the country and Stoops has run a version of the same offense for 17 years.

Because then it's official and before that no one really knows anyway. But I'm asking, how do you think the way he feels is really different in each scenario? I doubt there is a difference in his experience of it in the moment.

10 years ago I agree. With social media and all that today it's different. They like the build up and the hype. They like Twitter blowing up. If it's down to 4 schools and someone has let the cat out the bag a week earlier 3 fan bases likely don't care a bit and aren't going to bother to tune in. I'll be the first to say it's silly. But it is what it is. In reality the way fans follow this stuff now like we do on this board even kinda of aided in all of it. LOL

Apology accepted lol. Lord knows Vol Nation has more than it's fair share of ass hats that act like Clemson Tom. I more or less only follow him to see what ridiculous claims he will make during the football season. I just have to roll my eyes most of the time. If you say anything about a team other than Clemson, it's blasphemy according to him.
