Do these kids not realize that there is no guarantee that the coach at any school they choose will be at that school for the entire time they play there?

There are expectations at every school. If Clemson were to lose to Auburn, South Carolina, FSU - do they not realize that the seat would start to get very warm at Clemson especially considering the talent they have secured over the last couple of years? Insert any coach at any school where expectations are high for both on the field and off the field for the players.

Good coaches also move on and up - Saban could retire and I can guarantee you some big time school would lose their coach to Alabama - because they would go for the best.

I'd like to think even if Tennessee was in the bidding, we wouldn't contact the NCAA unless our paper trail was nonexistent. If the rumors are true, sounds like someone else wasn't as careful.

I'll add this though. I also don't think if you get outbid, you should turn the winning bidder in. Not saying that happened here, just in general. JMO

I just want to clear the air about the rumor. In my 7 years and 12,000ish posts, I have never posted a rumor as fact, and I have never tried to push a rumor for the sake of e-cred. From time to time I am made privy to some information. I had quite a bit of info on Ramar Smith's time at Tennessee and was blasted for it here as well, so the eventual "sour grapes" comments and doubters in this thread come as no surprise.

As for rumors in general, take them with a grain of salt. When I came to post this info yesterday, I fully expected someone to have already floated the possibility out there, and was frankly surprised to see no one had. It is why I posed my info in the form of a question instead of just throwing it all out there for the masses. There are several closer to the situation than myself, and I wanted to hear their take on if there was anything to it.

It seems there may be some fire to this smoke, and it lines up with potentially why Higgins went from naming us his leader a few weeks before to trolling our coaching staff down to the last minute, and his attitude towards Tennessee in general since the announcement.

I aint even mad. I saw Tee's house when he initially committed to us.

Good luck to him. Hope he gets that Laremy Tunsil salary till he declares for the draft.

I can't help but laugh at boosters/donors/schools that are willing to throw big money (illegally) at prospective high school kids.

A torn ACL. An arrest. Poor development. Any number of things could make that a terrible, terrible investment. And I'm not even including the potential of being caught.

I guess I just don't get the reasoning behind "saving face" here. Tee didn't dishonor my family. He didn't hurt me, or anyone else in any way. What is there to save face over? You seem like your just being overly righteous for the sake of doing so. I've got no beef with the kid personally. I hope he does fine wherever he goes.

You don't know crap. Stay in the FF. OV is a HS coach and has always been spot on. Furthermore, he's never disparaged a kid like this who did not pick us. This has real legs at this point. Also goes back to character issues we have been seeing played out.

Hate to admit it, but my brother, who works in the UK AD, has been saying since March that Butch has gotten a little dictatorial and is wearing out his welcome. Or so he has heard. Yes my brother is a huge UT fan too. Not given it much weight myself though because he isn't a big Butch proponent.
