'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

After the way it APPEARS Tee handled this with coaches and staff misleading them on purpose and probably laughing with his best buddies Amari and Hunter later, I don't want him coming to a game. He shouldn't be welcome on our campus at all.

This is exactly how I feel. He absolutely should not be allowed on campus in my opinion. I doubt that will be the path our coaches take but Tee needs to learn actions have consequences. However I am embarrassed to let this get me down and because of this I am thru with the Tee Higgins Clemson recruit thread.

Not thru with Volnation, just this thread!

This tells you everything you need to know.

r 2010-12: Chicago Bears, tight ends
r 2013-15: Michigan, sport administrator

Here you go just for the record:
Lloyd Carr praises Tennessee's hiring of Mike DeBord

Carr also doesn't think that DeBord will have any problem coaching quarterbacks, even though he hasn't held the title of quarterbacks coach since he was at Fort Hays State.

"He really did a great job with our quarterbacks," Carr said. "He didn't coach the position, because I wanted my coordinators to work with tight ends so that he was involved in the run game and the pass game, but he always did a great job communicating with our quarterbacks. He met with them. He knew what their strengths and weaknesses were. He knew what they liked and felt confident in. That's important."

And to anyone who might not believe that, Carr would like to drop the name of a three-time Super Bowl MVP with whom DeBord worked at Michigan.

"If you want to talk to someone else," Carr said, "you could call up Tom Brady and I think he would agree with everything that I've said."

Trust me, many of us who criticize him also think he's a good coach and the right man for the job. But he's not perfect.

If anyone on here thinks there's a perfect coach out there, they're setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. No college coach is perfect and we have to make the best of Butch cause he's our coach for the time being whether we like it or not. End of discussion.

So honestly, you think Butch's reluctance to throw is because our player's don't know routes or timing? If ZA really cannot coach, why would he still be here...you saw what CBJ did with Jancek....why wouldn't he get rid of ZA too??

I happen to think Butch thinks he can win without throwing downfield...we'll find out soon enough! GBO

It's not "can you win without throwing" that is the point. The point is as a Wr, you do not want to play for a team that does not know how to utilize that position.

Yes, I think it is Azzani that is problem btw, but he needed to cut him lose. He only cut Jancek because of off field issues imo.

That's fine, and I agree. But man, you get upset if anyone says the slightest thing negative about Butch.

Who was the coach that was rumored to be coming from Penn St with Shoop? My impression was that a WR coach upgrade was contemplated, but we went high dollar on Shoop and that left nothing in the budget for a move at WR.

Tee didn't choose Clemson because of WR production. He chose them because of peer pressure. His beat friend was hounding him night and day. Tee was NFL bound if he chose Maryville College.

Of course we don't know how to utilize the position..but I will not blame Azzani. At end of day, as with any organization, it's all on the boss, or in this case, the Head Coach.

This just isn't true.

I'm no fan of Azzani and would love to see him fired but I think this all comes down to Dobbs. The coaches obviously didn't trust him last year and I don't blame them after watching just how bad he was against anyone with a pulse. With that said Butch is walking a thin line and he better beat everyone on the schedule this year like he's supposed to.

Yeah that game Dobbs had against Georgia was just terrible

This is...just..wow. I don't know what to say. I've been hiking over in the Big South Fork NRA all day, and when I finally get back home...this. This years recruiting sucks. Maybe LWS was right. Maybe we really are a second tier program at best now. Tee Higgins is a butthole. Not for choosing them, but for being a total jackass about twisting the knife in. Butch did nothing to the kid, by his own admission he was treated with utmost respect by Butch and staff. Misleading them, his neighbors and all of his fellow REAL Tennesseans like this is a really bad thing to do. No good luck to you, I hope you rot.

If he truly played UT like some of you say, then UT needs to close the door and move on and never look back. If he does that now, he'll do that to the players he shares the field with as well.

Let's put it this way... Azzani can not coach WR well imo (he will have chance to prove me wrong this year with depth at position now though), and Butch failed to make change imo.

First off I do not recall LWS saying that, only that lawsuit was hurting us, not that we are second tier program now.

Also we should be more mature imo. I know I hate he chose them too, but I would still rather lose him to Clemson than team in burgundy or Florida.

I remember a certain 5* OL named Drew Richmond being all hyped on Tennessee then committing to Ole Miss under peer pressure as well as them being the flavor of the month....Clemson is just that...and where did Richmond sign at when it was all said and done? These kids flip and flop more than a politician.

No idea Wilks. I do know there are guys affiliated with Buck Fitzgerald's group and one or two others, who train and work with a lot of potential Vol recruits have publicly stated that Azzani isn't cutting it, that they disagree with the techniques he teaches. I've also heard former WRs Swain and Kent openly discuss their concerns with Azzani's philosophies/methods.......and then there's the awful, underperforming results of the last 3 years. Not saying there aren't other factors leading to our poor passing game.....just saying that I firmly believe that Azzani is the primary one.

No idea why Butch hasn't cut Azzani loose, he obviously has his reason(s). I do know that in each of the last two off seasons, Azzani has been the first name discussed by guys like Hubbs, Hyams, PFort and Rucker when the subject of staff/coaching changes has come up....and, IMHO, for good and obvious reason.

Finally, Tifwiw, but some of the Florida posters like 99 and LawGator pretty much "warned us" about Z on VN when he was hired here, said he was not good during his time in Gainesville. Looks to me like they were right.

I guess that is something to hang your hat on for now... Higgins does seem a little flaky. What happens if Clemson loses the opener to Auburn? Are they still the flavor of the month?

I've heard the same things regarding his coaching techniques and strategies...and I'm not saying he isn't a problem. I just think that he isn't the sole reason we don't throw more. Our receivers are talented and I can't recall how many times they would get wide open and Dobbs wouldn't even look downfield. I think it's more of a system failure than an individual or coach. I could be wrong...wouldn't be first time
