I agree. I didn't say this recruitment reminded me of Von Bell, I said this thread reminds me of the Von Bell thread. It just reminds me of how there was so much misinformation out there. One min someone claiming to be close to the situation was say Vols. The next day OSU. I do think Bell trolled his community by intentionally telling people around him misinformation. According to many at his commitment, his coaches and friends were totally shocked. I don't think Tee would do that.Look at it this way. Dooley was recruiting Bell the summer before his sr. year, Jones is recruiting Higgins. Big difference to me.
My take on the last several pages of this thread:
1. Tee commits privately to our staff on OCD.
2. Bleacher Report reaches out to do a commitment video with Tee, a la Guarantano.
3. I like Turtles somehow gets wind of the commitment video, and the fact that UT gets the commitment.
4. Making a rookie insider mistake, Turtles jumps the gun calling the commitment.
5. Realizing his mistake, Turtles tries to salvage Tee's surprise by hinting at Clemson colors being in the video.
6. The pro insiders on Volnation, as well as Hubbs and Fort, continue to hint broadly that Tee is still a UT commit.
Prediction: Turtles will try to claim insider status after Tee publicly commits to UT on the 4th. Volnation collectively sentences him to a 12 month internship with GFW and OV to teach him the right way to Insider.
Guys like Higgins, Chandler, Akers and Grey are not at risk of being recruited over.
Let me give you guys a little "inside baseball" type info on situations like this. These kids like to have commitment videos, but with so many moving parts they are difficult to produce. So when a production does take place, several alternate endings are filmed. So with Higgins likely down to Tennessee and Clemson, if he did indeed film a video to release on July 4, there are likely two endings that on the shelf and when he gives the official word the proper one will be updated.
I have heard rumors that he's planning on committing July 4, but I don't think anyone knows at this point. I know Tennessee was really confident following the recent trips to campus, but then he popped up at Clemson and has already said he plans to be back there later in July.
I honesty think the best thing for him would be to wait, because it's clear no matter where he commits, there's going to be plenty of recruiting to be done between now and Signing Day.
