'17 TN ATH Maleik Gray (UT signee)

This has to be the worst argument consistently brought up on VN.

Of course Wilson played on offense. But he was being recruited as a LB.

80% of high school athletes who plan on playing football in college play both ways. A lot of high school QBs end up at a different position, especially at smaller high schools.

We can look back at Gray's position in college in two years. I think it speaks volumes that a top 100 player as a defender doesn't start on offense. The reverse is a little more uncommon, but if he is such the playmaker at RB, why isn't he tearing it up at LaVergne?

Yeah him not playing offense in HS is the big thing to me. HS isn't nearly like college. If you've got a real college RB prospect on the team you use him for sure.

They have a D1 WR on that team as well, yet they use him at QB... to throw the ball to Gray.

Princeton Fant is their QB, and futute Mr. Football award winner.

How come no one talk about gray's WR skills??

He is as good or better prospect than Chandler...

Henry was not recruited as a CB. In fact, he rushed for 4000 yds his SR year alone, and IIRC, broke Emmitt Smith's high school rushing record for yards in a season. He, Jamal Lewis, and Travis Stephens all came in as RBs, and all had uber-succesful respective careers at UT doing so.

It was not very hard to project where Jalen Hurd, the 5* HS All-American RB who rushed for 3350 yds and 43 TDs as a JR was going to project best in college.

No school was recruiting to be a defensive player, especially a position like DL where he'd never played before.

The point in the case of Hurd, and in the case of Gray is why force the square peg into the round hole? By the time Gray reaches college, he will not have played RB in two years. Is Tennessee at a point where we have to recruit kids at RB who haven't played the position in two years?

Al Wilson came in as a running back

Irrelevant to this argument though, because Wilson actually played RB in high school, unlike Maleik Gray.

Al Wilson didn't come to Tennessee as a RB with a grand total of 78 carries to his name over 4 seasons of high school football.

Lol! Sir, you clearly have an agenda with this prospect. We all know your stance. We will see in the next 3-4 years how things play out, but for now, maybe just let it rest.

It's a message board in the offseason. Why take a rest? He has an opinion on where an Athlete will play and he got jumped for even thinking it.

He could end up anywhere and at a number of schools.

He didn't get jumped. Others had differing opinions, and it turned into a contest to see who will be right (which there is no way to prove anyways.)

I definitely wouldn't say he is a better prospect at rb. Even as a prospect I would say Chandler is better. Nothing against Gray, Chandler would be a straight up monster at rb for us.

Chandler WILL be a straight up monster for the Vols.

Gray reminds me of Omar Gaither.
We have to get both of them!

You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. Fant is not the QB. Keianthony Conner is the QB. Fant was out last year with a tore acl. Fant may play some wildcat QB but he has never thrown a TD to Maliek.

On a another note tho I heard Fant is up to 211 and ran a 4.37 the other day. Now we all know it was with a stop watch so he isn't a real 4.3 guy but if he is even a high 4.4 guy that's unreal. He is going to blow up this year.

Fant is a special player.

Listen here ,coach. I have forgotten more about football than you ever knew or will know.

Show a little a respect.

Really excited for Fant; can't wait for the both of them to commit.

Oh.

So that explains it.

You've already forgotten everything you used to know about football, which is why you keep insisting something is going to happen that quite literally every source of information has said the opposite about.
