'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

Sounds like he's set on Ole Miss. Plus with the family connections seems like a no brainer that he'd decommit. Only thing that might change that is if the NCAA brings down the hammer on Freeze.

We need his spot. Go on Chase. We will find someone to take your spot.

We could easily use two TEs this class as we are still very thin there. The narrative that the coaches are pushing him out is tired, give it a rest.

I think he sticks if we want him to stick. He realizes he's not the highest rated player. He realizes TN's class is filling up. He's seen how players are urged to explore other options. That's why he's keeping his options open.

This is why this class will look significantly different come February.

Exactly..but he won't be pushed out if he blows up. He better make it really hard for the staff to do that this season. Either way it will be once they can evaluate his progress, or lack thereof. It won't be anytime soon.

Unless they really only wanted 1 TE in the class. Not saying that's the case, but possible.

Before this season is over Chase Rogers will have a large list of big time schools offering. LSU, Oregon flew in to see him last month. ESPN ranks has him 7th in the nation for TE-H. Watch his soph and freshman hudl, just as impressive as jr year. 6'3.5 240lbs now still only 17 yrs old. I understand everyone has their opinion and I respect that. Does not phase me. we are committed to Tenn. We will be in Knoxville on the 30th if anyone wants to meet him and see his size for themselves.

Take everything you see on here with a grain of salt...and then drown it in more salt! Lot of self- declared experts who read tea leaves and then find out it's marijuana. :cool2:

I've always liked Rogers. I have absolutely no clue how he is rated so low on 247. My guess is they never bothered to evaluate him and just tagged him with a rating like they did with Austin Smith. Doesn't he now have offers from both of the big in-state schools? OM and MSU? With the need at TE, I sure hope they can hold on to him.

Stats.. started 42 straight high school games, 155 receptions, 2530 yds, 33 TDs never fumbled in high school career and played the last 4 games last year with a broken foot. Brett Favre is a personal friend and Chase is a lot like him in size and toughness. Ole Miss was a feel good offer to me, but Tenn has him because Scott is a class act. Chase is very underrated and offers will start coming in fast as the season starts. Thanks for all the support. no apologies necessary for comments. everyone is free to express themselves. I welcome any questions.

No one is claiming to be an expert except for D4H. Just giving options, just like you.

I was unaware of the broken foot.
I'm not one of those that evaluate skill like many here but love a kid with natural toughness.
Can't coach that.
Thanks for bringing info, always appreciated.

Awesome news! Tell him to stay on Akers, Murphy, and anyone else about being a Vol.

And, welcome to the board! :hi:
Stay in the recruiting forum...it's the safe zone, except in the offseason. Football forum posters are :loco:

I am very schooled on the process. I asked Coach Scott where Chase was in the pecking order to get a feel for stability with the offer. He understands I am a man of my word and he is also. He said Chase was top 3. He told me that he would worry in months to come after offering Chase. Others will notice what he found in Chase. He flew into town 8 weeks ago and told us, Chase maybe his only TE this class if a few targets fall away. McKitty was one he wanted. They contact Chase 6 days a week to touch base. Don't think he is at risk of being pushed out...

Thanks for posting... Will be fun watching Chase in Orange. The star gazers will eat their words.

So, will he visit Ole Miss, since y'all are big fans and you played there?

Is Latrell Bumphus a TE or DE? Many have him as a TE. Did coach Scott say if he was a DE?

Had D4H given an analysis? I usually like what he has to say. Usually spot on.
