'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

247's final prediction:

Tennessee is probably the team with the best chance of pulling the upset, although we haven’t heard quite enough to consider the Vols the favorites to land Akers, while some sources in Mississippi also are confident Ole Miss will be the choice. But the safest bet is probably Florida State.

The Seminoles simply have been mentioned more frequently by sources over the past couple of weeks as the team most likely to land him. The odds appear to be slightly in their favor going into what will be an eagerly anticipated announcement.

PREDICTION: Florida State (50-percent confidence)

Nothing we didn't expect.

Translation: No one knows until he announces. Good job by Akers and his family by keeping outsiders from ruining his moment. Whether he comes to Knoxville or goes elsewhere, he has handled his recruitment well.

"I am by no means saying I'm calling Akers to the Vols, but I am preparing columns in the event they do land him. I did speak with a UT Staff member tonight who "feels good" about the Vols heading in to tomorrow."

-John Brice 247sports

Promise you until staff gets that no call from a recruit they always believe they land a recruit. Greg Adkins never told me he was going to miss on a recruit. Always going to get them but he missed on a lot. When I would ask he would just smile with a smirk and say it was an upset.. Same with Trooper. finally just starting laughing at them

really hard to take coaches comments and think that is a clue..

I just don't see why he wouldn't come to Tennessee, we have the most reasonable depth chart out of all of the teams he is considering.

I think it's less about the depth chart and more about CBJ's hot seat. If Butch is canned after next season, then there's no guarantee CRG is retained, and he's closest to Akers. You know that's the line FSU is feeding to Akers to counter CRG's influence.

Had UT made it to the SECCG, I think Akers would more than likely pick UT.

50 percent confidence is not very high. Everyone seems to be guessing on this one. I would love for him to select Tennessee but if he doesn't the sun will still rise on Wednesday.

Pretty much. Glad I just posted that little piece from the whole article. 247 is probably the best site for writing 500+ word articles that could've been written in 50 or less.

FSU does have Zaquandre White and Khalan Laborn (which is just outside of 5* at .9794). They got Amir Rasul last year from Miami to go along with Jacques Patrick, who got some time this year. They've already got some good backs, and Laborn is very, very similar to Akers in running style and size.

Cam isn't going to shy away from competition cause he'll have Chandler and Jelly to push him.

I'd say coaches know at this point and if you read all three boards, you can see who is the perceived favorite as normally the sites who aren't getting him will change their tune and quit the sunshine pumping and give themselves an out "so and so did all they could, we will probably be second but things are fluid" when sometimes they weren't even in the final group. I remember LSU teasing about Foster, Foster said it was Bama then AU/UGA, never even mentioned LSU. Clicks clicks clicks

Wtf? Lol

Edit: he fixed it some what. Lol

I know Jay's been telling Cam about his time on the Hill. Especially the two fumbles that led to touchdowns in 95 against UF and the one in 96 that Lott picked up and ran back for a TD.
