Dang man I'm just being honest about my thoughts. I'm not trashing Butch, but you have to be really obtuse to not see that we are at a dangerous point right now, with a lot of downward pointing indicators. I hate it, but it's true. I hope things move upward. We've had enough bad fortune for five teams this year. One thing that foes give a little hope is acknowledging the fact that it took an almost unbelievable string of bad decisions, or bad outcomes to good decisions, and just plain bad luck to keep this team out of the playoffs. I've seen less adversity destroy seasons for other teams, and as disappointing as this year is...it was not destroyed. That gives me some hope that Butch can turn it around.

I don't have much faith in Butch, but if Blackburn is hired, I'll have faith in him to cut bait if needed and hire a winner.

Dang back, you have the monopoly on these random doom and gloom posts then get all keyed up on when you get called out on it. Moodiest poster on here for unseen reasons.

This is one of the most fun times of the year. Recruiting is crazy, coaching carousel is spinning fast a bowl game against a traditional powerhouse is two weeks away. Try to find some joy in the world instead of wallowing in "we are never going to be good." We will see if we have a better year no point in taking the whip in December.

Based on what??? This will be his first AD gig at a power 5 school and think we should anticipate a few whiffs along the way. Do I think he will be an improvement over the last two AD's absolutely!!! Just need to understand hiring a "winner" is a convergence of timing, skill and luck.

CBJ is a "winner" based on his coaching record.:ermm:

I don't know, but I'm getting a strong feeling that we might just dance our way to a good recruiting class and maybe even a better than expected season next year. It could happen.

From what we have seen....fans have a right to.not have any faith in him getting TN into competing for ships'.

It's not right or wrong if you have faith.in him or not. All fans don't think the same

8-4 is winning at places like SC and Vandy.

The last 2 yrs...it's how we lost and who we lost to (couple of games)..in a weak division.

Cost us East champs, compete in SECCG, big bowl, millions of $.

Two things on this:
1. No one I have talked with at any point in the past several months has even suggested Tennessee has led for Akers. I believe the Vols are in the top three, and they're in it for sure. But they've never been believed to be the team to beat. So it's not accurate to suggest they "dropped behind" Florida State.
2. I talked with a source at Tennessee a couple weeks ago who basically conceded that the Vols weren't getting Akers. The line being mentioned in this thread sounds very much like spin that serves as an excuse for UT not getting the highest-ranked player left on its board, a player most believe almost definitely wasn't going to Tennessee to begin with. For sources at UT, leaking that kind of information gives the Vols a built-in excuse for not getting Akers and has the added benefit of attempting to fire back at Haney for the story.

Btw, I didn't see this posted yet. If it was, flame away. I'm sorry. I subscribe to the Auburn site, my cousin is a UT grad who I pass info along to from UT's side because he doesn't want to pay for the subscription. Sent this to him, figured I would give it to y'all too. I don't hate Tennessee so this is not me running you guys through the mud.

It's all good. We would be thrilled to get him but Ty Chandler is just as good or better. As long as he leaves the SEC I'll be at peace with not getting him.
