'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Fort just said that he's hearing more and more that it's between Tennessee and Ohio State for Akers.

That's not true unless things changed that much since yesterday. We were ~5th just yesterday on his lists. FSU & OSU has been at the top of his lists for a while now & recently LSU popped into it. Sure not us but if Fort said it today then Akers has definitely changed his mind. Did he visit with UT staff yesterday or today?

How do you know all this? Not being a smart @$$, just genuinely curious.

Cam Akers could not have gone out on a higher note. Clinton (Miss.) won a state title Friday night by beating Pearl (Miss.) 49-35. Akers, the No. 2 running back and No. 4 prospect in the country accounted for all seven of the Arrows' touchdowns. He finished the game with 217 yards rushing and five touchdowns on the ground, 228 yards through the air and two touchdowns passing. He is simply an elite talent. There is really nothing he cannot do on a football field. He actually made a couple of plays at defensive back in key situations in this game as well. This is why schools are still fighting to sign the five star who will enroll in January. He thought he would commit December 10 at the Alabama vs. Mississippi All-Star game, but he has called that off. That likely means he will announce his decision at the Army All-American game January 7. As of now, it looks like Akers is leaving the state of Mississippi to play college football, but you cannot count Mississippi out. Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Ohio State look to be the main contenders with the in-state Rebels at this time. This one could still go a few different ways. He and his family have had contact with all these schools at some point in the last week, and he has pushed his decision back, so Akers is not quite ready to make his choice.-Scout

How did you do this year? I caught a couple nice largemouth on the Chick and had a really good day on Guntersville, but that was pretty much it. You?

Had a good day at Wedowee earlier this year. Had some issues with my boat trailer tho that sidelined me most of the fall. I have a tournament this weekend that I'm pretty confident about. Looking forward to it. Actually met Aaron Martens while I was there practicing last week. Very nice guy

That's what I want to hear! He is a closer. Any opinions on who we get down the stretch?

No mention of the Vols? No wonder Scout went bankrupt!

Good deal, good luck!

This is awesome. Akers wasn't even close to even wanting to become a Vol. CBJ is most certainly doing his thing. That's why I said we can't ever give up on ANY recruit.

One concern I have about your posts: you are very intent on ranking the teams by recruit interest. Don't really believe it works that way. And you invite all kinds of abuse and ridicule by proclaiming UT as 5th or 6th for Cam Akers when, in reality, UT has been in his top 3 all along.

I'm quite certain that this won't change your modus operandi. And that's okay.
