'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Gerry Hamilton on recruiting nation said that, up until this weekend, he had been hearing Tennessee had the edge over FSU for Akers but that the holes knocked it out of the park this weekend. Hopefully once we get him on campus we can counter that and sign Akers. A Kelly/akers/chandler trio would be a thing of beauty to watch.

What does knocked it out of the park mean I wonder?

I don't think Butch sucks. He's helped repair the disaster that was Dooley. He's just obviously not the guy who can get us over the hump. IMO he's served his purpose and coming in as a very solid coach from Cinci he's probably met expectations in reality. He wasn't ever a homerun hire, just hopeful he'd turn out to be. I think his days are numbered and hopefully the next guy can get us over the hump.

I agree 110% absolutely spot on. I had hoped as well i dont think he makes it past next year without winning sec to show he can. Just getting there is not enough if ut brass is serious about winning. Hes a lower tier two coach. I had hoped as u did that he was going to be guy. The leadership of team cost him this year u have all u leaders on bench and yet as coach u dont fill that void then say hey i dont know whats wrong.....you are not the coach that will win at high level. Hes set on running the offense his way regardless if molding it to talent he has. There is just alot in my opinion that says im not the guy. And now his recruiting is going to get even harder because hes not winning like he said he would which he used just to get kids here. Hes in over his head

but I do think the jury is still out on Butch, IF the VOLS finish 10-3 this year even missing the SEC championship game that is still 10-3, very respectable. I am not making excuses for Butch just being rationale. I've seen the posts how close we are to being 3-5 but you could argue just as convincingly how close we are to being 7-1. Turnovers are what did the VOLS in against A&M and USCjr

The players have to take care of the football. I'm sure they are working on it and I would argue the QBs behind Dobbs are better more accurate passers.

I will not predict the outcome of next season but if the VOLS finish 10-3 this year, 2017 recruiting WILL FINISH strong, most likely top 10 coupled with an outstanding DL class. Next year could be special. It may not be but TN needs to make damn sure they are ready to spend the coin on a proven WINNER if they let Butch go.

A&M is currently in the playoff rankings and TN went toe to toe with them.

USCjr was very bad but the season is not over. Still a lot to play for.

GO VOLS!!!

We need a new QB. We need atleast pretty accurate short to intermediate throws, and an arm big enough to stretch the field

I asked this previously but if Florida beats Arkansas tomorrow and LSU and plays in SEC championship and gets destroyed by possibly Alabama or if they lose to LSU and still play bama and get destroyed can I ask what is better? Our team making it to Atlanta if we won in Columbia and then also the rest of the games and we get destroyed by bama especially after the first game that was supposed to be close and we lost by a considerable amount of points. My personal opinion currently is we win out go 9-3, make it to outback bowl, beat PSU, go to 10-3, which makes a difference and shows progress and then we might be set for years to come. Imagine 2017 of a line that has Richmond at RT, boulware, Thomas, jack Jones and Trey Smith. Maybe a full year of Kelly and CFA. I mean I would like to live up to the hype of 2016 but I live on long island and see the Yankees every season trading away assets for a quick fix and instead we all need to see the full plan going forward (like they have done now and going forward). Yes I know they are a professional franchise but to me it shows that even a tier 1 professional team understands that you need to have a build instead of a quick fix only. In college, especially with a average to above average recruiting ground we have a 3-4 year plan and CBJ has accelerated this plan to make is competitive every year because I remember when CDD first came here and then we progressed the wrong way.

May I ask, what the hell does this have to do with Cam Akers?

I realize we, including, myself, derail threads often but they're usually at the least tangent. This post seemed so out of place.

No worries here. This has just been one of those stream of consciousness threads and I thought the comment was ironic. Because I bet people can get good barbecue in Mississippi too.

interesting that my post seemed out of place, the discussion wasn't out of place but my post was. I appreciate that you make a comment but your opinionated comments should be kept to someone who wants to hear them and unfortunately that is not in this current conversation.

Why don't you and your people that want to carry on a private conversation create a private message board so people that you don't want to be privy to your discussion won't be able to see or comment on your discussion? Thereby not getting offended when said people that you don't see your comments that you don't want other people outside of your tight knit group comment on your private comments.

Why's that funny? U think JG is a scrub?

Absolutely not. I just find it funny when people just automatically believe Dormady and Jones are scrubs. Nobody knows who will be the starting QB will be next year. How do we know Jones doesnt win the starting job? Answer, we dont. If JG wins it, great. But to just completely overlook QD and SJ like they arent even here is silly.

This is an internet message board where all comments and opinions are allowed. Your statement is absolutely ridiculous and unwarranted. Grow up.
