'17 LA RB Travis Etienne

Per Hubbs
Travis Etienne will visit and while most have felt LSU was the favorite since he received the Tigers offer before Christmas, that may not be the case. Etienne's recruitment seems to be growing as Clemson reportedly offered on Thursday so he might not be a slam dunk to LSU. It will be interesting to see where the Vols are with him after his visit. Tennessee is going to take another running back in this class. Tim Jordan is expected to visit next weekend. John Lovett is also expected to visit this month.

"Just spoke with Top247 running back Travis Etienne of Jennings (La.) High School following his official visit to Tennessee. It was his first time visiting the Vols, and he said he really enjoyed himself and he could see himself playing there. He said the opportunity to come in and play as a true freshman is one of the main reasons he's high on Tennessee, and he liked spending time with the Vols' players and coaches this weekend, along with RB commitment Ty Chandler and some of UT's other weekend visitors. He said he feels his style could complement Chandler's, so he believes they both could play next season if he decided to go to Tennessee.
A former Texas A&M commitment, Etienne said he's now planning to visit Clemson next weekend instead of Texas A&M because he has been to College Station multiple times, and he's still scheduled to travel to LSU the final weekend before signing day. But he said he should know where he's going after his trip to Clemson next weekend. Etienne didn't know exactly when he would announce his final decision."

Is he saying Vols or Clemson or does he just know LSU pretty well already?

not being negative, but these kids in LA grew up when LSU was good. so they want to go to school there.

If im Butch i send every gun i have to this kids house. we need a dynamic back behind, yes behind Kelly.

"He grew up a Vol fan because he loved orange. Will visit Clemson next weekend instead of A&M. Will know after that visit he said. Likes Tennessee a lot. More coming."

"I grew up liking Tennessee," Etienne said with a big smile. "The orange caught my eyes."

His first visit to Tennessee this weekend didn't disappoint. It was an experience that has left quite the impression.

"Great visit and first impression," Etienne said. "Everything was really nice up here. It was different than Louisiana, but I can see myself here. Just the atmosphere and the people here. Everyone is so friendly. The coaches are like a family environment. Just like real genuine people."

He's been to Texas A&M, LSU, and several others, but does one visit stand out above the rest?

"They are all great, but this one is on top right now,"Etienne said. "With the atmosphere being like a home environment and feeling at home. Right now I don't have a leader, but it's crazy."

I never assume we get a LA kid that LSU wants...but it does look like he is seriously considering us

Excellent size, speed & tremendous production against tough competition. Would be surprised if we land him over LSU, but definitely my favorite RB of the ones we're still recruiting.

Etienne capped off his football career at Jennings High School as its most decorated running back in history by rushing for 7,518 yards on 696 carries and 103 TDs. He also caught 18 balls for 421 yards and 7 TDs, while also returning 12 kicks for scores as well. Etienne accumulated over 5 miles (8,854 yards) of total offense and 125 TDs in 42 games.

During his junior season, Etienne rushed for close to 3,000 yards and 50 TDs, while earning 4-3A Offensive Player of the Year and Class 3-A All-State Player of the Year honors. He was again awarded 4-3A Offensive Player of the Year honors after rushing for 2,366 yards and 36 TDs during his senior campaign.
