It's a 7A school which is the highest classification but the region they are in is fair at best competition. Having said that they have beaten everyone handily. They will play the bigger Birmingham schools (Hoover) in the playoffs.

Maybe I was watching a different film that you guys. Certainly has speed, but I didn't see any fundamentals for playing QB. That footwork in the pocket was as bad as you'll ever see.

thompson said he started to draw interest from tennessee about “a week ago,” but he “was kind of expecting” an offer from the vols after talking with their coaches over the past several days and meeting with them during saturday’s visit.

“there was, like, a buzz in the air about it,” said thompson, who also holds football offers from central florida, troy and western kentucky. “they said they liked my film and all that good stuff and said they wanted me to get up there to a game, and the alabama game is the one we wanted to go to, so i ended up doing it.

“it’s just a great atmosphere. And, also, it’s every kid’s dream to play in the sec, so once you get an offer from the sec, it’s all good. The environment was good, and all that people around, so it felt really good,” he said. “really, (i liked) the fans, man, and just the people around — like, the girl that toured us around and all that stuff. Everybody was polite and nice to me, and the coaches.”

he’s also drawing football interest from usc and texas tech, and he admitted he now faces a difficult decision on which sport he might prefer to play. But he said tennessee’s coaches have “said i could come and play both” sports for the vols.

“i mean, i love both, so we’re going to have to see,” he said. “it’s a tough situation right now. I’m just going to have to play it out. I always loved both. That’s why i’m trying to play both. I actually played basketball, too, but i put that away in middle school. But i’ve been playing football and baseball.”

“now that i’m starting to get interest, i’m just going to leave my options open, and whatever’s best for me and my family is going to be what i’m going to go with,” he said. “we’re just going to have to sit down and talk about it. … i’m just going to have to sit down with my family and stuff like that.”

I do believe you were because many times he got out of a collapsing pocket with eyes down field

Very good. McGill-Toolen is nationally ranked, and also won the 7on7 National Championship this summer.

A good friend and ex-roomate of mine went to McG-T. That's the only reason I know lol

Did his parents not come? I would think if he was serious about coming here, he would bring his parents or at least I would if it was me.

Hopefully we will learn how the visit went by today or tomorrow.

With an offer extended to this guy now I hope he really considers coming to play quarterback and baseball at Tennessee. He could compete with these guys next season. Kid is a baller plain and simple.

I'm shocked his name is just now surfacing. He is extremely athletic and looks like a good passer too. One of the best deep balls I've seen this cycle.

I'm wondering if maybe he really focused more on baseball until this season? Not saying he didn't football before this year, just wondering if his football talent just really came together this year. Its amazing how these kids keep popping up during the season that you never have heard of.
