thompson said he started to draw interest from tennessee about a week ago, but he was kind of expecting an offer from the vols after talking with their coaches over the past several days and meeting with them during saturdays visit.
there was, like, a buzz in the air about it, said thompson, who also holds football offers from central florida, troy and western kentucky. they said they liked my film and all that good stuff and said they wanted me to get up there to a game, and the alabama game is the one we wanted to go to, so i ended up doing it.
its just a great atmosphere. And, also, its every kids dream to play in the sec, so once you get an offer from the sec, its all good. The environment was good, and all that people around, so it felt really good, he said. really, (i liked) the fans, man, and just the people around like, the girl that toured us around and all that stuff. Everybody was polite and nice to me, and the coaches.
hes also drawing football interest from usc and texas tech, and he admitted he now faces a difficult decision on which sport he might prefer to play. But he said tennessees coaches have said i could come and play both sports for the vols.
i mean, i love both, so were going to have to see, he said. its a tough situation right now. Im just going to have to play it out. I always loved both. Thats why im trying to play both. I actually played basketball, too, but i put that away in middle school. But ive been playing football and baseball.
now that im starting to get interest, im just going to leave my options open, and whatevers best for me and my family is going to be what im going to go with, he said. were just going to have to sit down and talk about it.
im just going to have to sit down with my family and stuff like that.
