Meant to report that last Friday CPA scrimmaged NCS. Couple of notes.
Bituli was unfortunately a non factor. He was very unproductive at RB, and NCS' defense pretty much got owned by CPA. He looked very tired. NCS has no depth hardly so he played pretty much the whole game. From an upside stand point the sky is the limit for the this kid. He is the 2nd tallest player on the team besides Alex givens. He looks like an athlete, but he just doesn't look very impressive yet.
With that being said, I believe he is a take for Tennessee just on pure size and upside. He can be a real player for UT.
I will say I definetly think he will be a OLB in college, like I said he wasn't very good at RB, and was surprisingly easy to tackle. Also Alex Givens is a monster. He is huge, but very lazy. He quits early on almost every rep. With the right coaching he could be a great player but I understand why UT never heavily pursued him.
That's my insider info. Thanks for reading.
I was also at that scrimmage. Where the defense was asked to pull up and not hit the CPA quarterback. The same Daniel Bituli you called lazy is the #1 prospect in the state of TN. Not my words. 247 said it. And this is coming from a 1A team. Having coached him at the youth league level and watching his entire hs career I can tell you. He never quits. Wherever the ball is he gets there. He will chase you down from the opposite side of the field and catch you before you score. His speed is hard to gage because of his length and long strides. And Ole Miss was impressive but is not a lock. UT still has a good chance. To his credit Butch was just on our campus himself a few weeks ago to visit I doubt that it will be the last visit.
On Friday, look for Thigpen in the Nashville area as he continues to work the class of 2016 including Daniel Bituli, who Tennessee has quietly made a nice impression on the last few months.
Both Brooks and Bituli are top targets for the Vols in 2016 and right now Tennessee sits as well with Bituli and Brooks as they have at any time and are going to be very real contenders for both moving forward.
